The sharpest knife you own

I used to think that my DA SOCOM or M2 AFCK was the sharpest and then got an old style Spyderco Moran that was vorpal. There's a new king in town though with the receipt of my HALO III, that thing is so sharp that when shaving it takes off the top layer of skin. Sebenza is a runner up to all of these in my experiance.

Sharpest out of box - maybe Spyderco old Moran but Marttiini handforged little leuku was really sharp too.

Sharpest now is a quite cheap (40$) Japanese Santoku style carbonsteel knife. Rusts and cuts like crazy.

my cs srk without a dout.

most of the customs I have owned had to be honed they were not shaving sharp.

I did own a randy lee skinner bought used it was a 2" long blade hollow grind.that was like a razor.

the zytel spyderco native generally has gin2 blade steel.I am not sure about the stainless configurations.

thanks
chris

I don't have a knife, yet, that meets my idea of true sharpness.
I think Tenbeers has my knife.
Until then, I have a Buck Nighthawk that I have put probably one hundred hours into reshaping.
It has the most uniform edge, from root to tip, of any knife I own.
Sometimes a cheap knife can have its advantages, and in this case my Nighthawk allowed me to really mess with edge geometry without fear of ruining an expensive knife.
Still, I think I have a sharper knife in my future.

Oh, I overlooked the "right out of the box" part in Solomon's original post.
In that case, a short-sword/heavy-dagger Gene Osborn made to my design came out of the box with an extremely aggressive edge.

Mine would have to be my Cold Steel Bush Ranger. Hair poppin' sharp and holds an edge very well. One that really surprised me was the Buck Odyssey. I really enjoy this knife and it was very sharp out of the box. It is now my daily carry. Hey Big Tex, good to see you are becoming a regular. I told you this place is addicting. I met Big Tex on one of the hunting forums(aka-Jim in Texas) and sent him over here. Looks like he has the bug for sure! Let me know how your Blackwood Small Hunter works out for you. Now that you have been bitten, there's no turning back.

Take care, (AND a big knife)

My sharpest out of the box is my Microtech Mini Socom. Close second is carbon V CS Trailmaster.

Cold Steel... I gave a friend a CS Medium Voyager serrated for xmas. He cuts alot of bandages off race horses, and it's the best he's ever seen. His friend wanted to see it and was warned; "it's extremly sharp", and proceded to cut himself with it. Another guy watched this and asked to see it too, recieved the same warning, and cut himself worse!

CS LTC kukri!!! I too have a pair of cut-offs from trying to wipe some dirt off of the blade! My SHARPEST knife is my AFCK- I used my Razor's Edge kit and finished with a Spydie white ceramic and... holy geez! Now that's sharp!

Probably the sharpest knife out the box I've ever had would be a Recon Tanto that was made back when Cold Steel still made their knives in Ventura, California. It was scary sharp!
