I was just thinking.......how come 710 doesn't have a subforum? He's a knife maker and kydex bender, why shouldn't he have one?

Here in Colorado we have a bunch of great dirt bike trails in the mountains. Last year a new trail was opened. A group of environmentalists were trying to stop it being opened. They tried a petition but it didn't work, it was still opened to dirt bikes. Last week someone put booby traps on several miles of the new trails. The forest service and the sheriff are investigating. Sure hope they catch they bastard. People could have been really hurt.
Here is a picture of one of the spike traps.
I'd call this pretty damn close to domestic terrorism.

Wow, I take a couple of days of to work in the shop and you guys are already 13 pages in a new snark. Hadn't had time to read it all but it looks like I'm missin quite a party......... aside from that, gotta "whatcha think" question for you all. Besides the sheath and bone beaded lanyard I finished up a little hawk for Blade show today. I was really excited about the peice of wood I cut out for it. Turns out it does have awesome grain in on part but next to none in the bolster area. Dont know how I feel about it. Do I cut it off and try another piece? Just strikes me wrong.
We really need to talk about you developing me a tactical hawk. For reals!

I would never steer people away from Todd or his fantastic work, but have you taken a look at JK Knives here on the forum? He has a line of pretty kickass tomahawks and hatchets. The hawk in my avatar is one of his.

Holy crap that's probably one of the scariest things I've seen in a while. I love nature as much or more as the next guy, but to purposely try to harm/injure/maim or worse another human being in defense of a piece of land...I just dunno how people can think this is the right thing to do. We're lucky here in alberta to have both multi-use trails that allow and don't allow off-road vehicles. I'll admit that I don't ride myself, so I appreciate the restricted trails that aren't chewed up by motorized vehicles (although horses can do just as much damage to some areas of the trails it seems). At the same time, I've used the open trails that access some beautiful backcountry, and it was not like it was a turned into a barren wasteland from the countless off road vehicles using it. As long as there is proper education - making sure users stay on the trails, using spark arresters to prevent fires, not washing vehicles in the streams to prevent damaging fish habitat - there can be a balance between the protection of nature and the rights of the people wanting to enjoy it. I really hope they catch the person(s) involved and throw the book at them.

Wow, Todd. That hawk is one of the best I've seen. I'd love to get a tactical hawk from you too. Something like that but with a spike... MM good. Love the wood on that too. It's perfect. Although, to be fair, I suppose I could just make something myself. Sigh.
Maybe I can spin it to the wife that I need to get a piece from a maker like Todd for...research and educational purposes. Every time I say I want to buy a custom piece, she asks me why I can't make it for myself, and then says "I bet yours would be much nicer." Which is totally untrue, but I haven't come up with a good counterargument yet. I could also show her the picture, but then she'll just want one for herself. Hmm, that might work.

Sent my only hawk off the other day with some knives i need sheaths for. I have a great sheath for that hawk already but im letting Jared hold it to make some sheaths for it for his own inventory. I met an older gal once that had a dirty sense of humor. She said she had a tattoo of mickey mouse on her backside and offered to show it to me and another friend. SHe pulled the waistband of her pants down an inch or so and we told her we couldn't see it. Couple more inches lower, still couldn't see it. Eventually she about had a whole cheek out and we still didn't see any tattoo and she says "Darn pussy [cat] musta caught the mouse again!"

We used to have a really good pizza and sub place here that made some pretty good sammiches. I'm not sure why they ever closed, but I sure do miss the place. Subway is our only place now and its pretty hit or miss.
It looks like I might start working Thursday nights and taking Saturday nights off. I really hope it happens. It sure would be nice to get a whole day with the gf where she doesn't have to take a day off of work foe it to happen. I'd even be able to sneak in some impromptu camping trips and watch some races at the local dirt track.

I grew up in a small town that is now only 7,500 people but that sub shop has been there since I can remember and under the same owner. Whenever I visit I make sure to grab a samitch.
Hope the days off work for you. I might be changing mine to get weekends off. Right now I only get every other saturday and have sun-mon-tuesday off. It is nice because I'm not here when things are really hopping but it makes having a social life difficult.
