The Snark Snarks at Night!

Some of you may remember that I purchased Wetterlings Bushman axe with a misaligned head. Sent it back and they sent me the same one, again. Here is the update.

Let my start by saying I gave this situation a couple of weeks so I would not blast them too hard on the forums.
I purchased this axe from campsaver.com I doubt I will buy from them again.

I ended up sending the axe back. I called camp saver to verify that the axe made it back to them and to ask them to pick the best Bushman axe they had in stock. The guy on the other end of the phone, Walt kept telling me that this was a hand made axe and that it was eye measured and that some variations would occur. He couldn't understand that a misaligned axe head IS NOT a benefit of buying a hand made axe. I told him that the axe would never be right unless it was rehung. I told him that it would perform poorly and glance off the object you were chopping and could be a safety hazard. When I asked him if he was going to send it back to Wetterlings for a replacement or to be fixed he told me no and that it was within the specs from the manufacturer and again went on about it being hand made and eye measured.

I also asked him if he finds a good one and sends it to me could he please send it out faster than the UPS ground that takes 8 days each way. I told him that this situation had been going on for over 3 weeks and they sent me the same axe twice. He told me that he wouldn't because I sent back an axe that didn't have a problem. I let it go since he was willing to have "his guy" check out the other axes in stock to find the best one.

About 20 minutes later I got a call from Walt telling me that all 3 of the Bushman axes in stock had misaligned heads. I told him that he obviously couldn't help me and didn't seem like they were going to take the bad axes off the shelf so I want my money back.

Getting my money back was the only good part about this transaction.

I just found out a place in Maine Lie-Nielsen has these axes on stock. I might have to give Wetterlings another try and go pick one out.

Like I said before, I doubt I will give Camp saver any more of my money.

Jeremy

Morning guys,

Good to see ya'll making it home safely! The gathering looked like a blast! My wife was sitting beside me as I browsed the picture thread. She admitted it looked like a fun time ;) looks like I should start making preparations for next year :D.

Beautiful weather out today. Sunny but not too hot. Dinner tonight at the inlaws with some fireworks. Today is looking like a nice relaxing day.

Morning lunatics!

Before the rumors start flying, I would just like to say that any "reports" of me getting mind-bendingly drunk and howling at the moon at the Gathering are greatly exaggerated.

I thought that was just Kyah giving you singing lessons?

I got home at 3 am because somebody told me to stop by smkw on the way home. I spent what felt like an hour in there, but my clock said I spent more like 3.

Walked out with a case peanut in cv and yellow delrin, if anybody's wondering.

You should definately go, my one day and morning at the gathering was easily worth the 2^10 miles total I had to travel.

You know the rules dynamic! You can't say you got a new knife(knives) then NOT post pictures!

Sorry, that was careless of me. Right now it's stuck in an apple, soon as I can get it out I'll grab a shot.

Please,

We're not picky ;) a shot IN the apple is just as nice. Show's the love of it being used :D

Looks like a beaut!

I just was browsing the xchange and there are a few nice things if I wasn't broke as all hell I'd totally buy right now :( I need to have a garage sale and pawn off a dozen of my old crappy chinese folders.

Sure is, great little knife. I'll be whittling something with it soon, soon as I whittle something with the bk4.
It is one of cases cheaper knives, the yellow delrin already puts it about $12 under their other knives, and their peanut is a cheaper pattern. Same price as the texas toothpick.

Yeah, that exchange is brutal, I have to keep telling myself to wait and not grab anything there.

Yeah,

I don't _need_ a new knife ;) but we all know the blade lust :D especially when the item in question is not in our current collection. And technically speaking I did promise my wife (after my most recent of purchases) that I would refrain from buying another knife this year. Now... Paypal Gift I don't think would count right? cause I'm gifting them money and they are gifting me a knife ;)

I think I just need to get out and spend some time whittling in the back yard with some of the beauties I own ;). I also found a buyer for a few of my old folders. I may re-invest that into a BK14 :)
