Carbon fiber, VG-10, Compression Lock, wire clip, full flat grind big beautifu; hawkbill.

I couldn't be more pleased with what I'm seeing in these pictures. Spyderco is really stepping it up.

Very nice! I may as well buy that when it comes out. I would like that same knife with the bellied hawkbill blade sort of like the cricket or civilian lines.

Beautiful! I'm definitely getting one. Love the Chinook-style handle too... looks like perfect ergos.

What makes it so great?

Because we've wanted it, pined for it, and have started 1000+ post threads begging for it. Because we've gotsta gotsta gets us some of that!

Oh, and hawkbills are incredible cutters, the Compression Lock is the strongest and most reliable lock known to man and beast, wire clips are discreet and furniture friendly, most everyone loves G-10, and VG-10 is the shizzle.

This knife screams "JD Spydo has his fingers on the pulse of the industry and he'll restrict that bloodflow until the Superhawk, aka JD Spydohawk, is in our super-tanker hawkbill-crazed hands." It screams it a whole bunch.

Aside from that, it's just a knife.

Too funny! But why is it that the blade seems to have less of a curve than the Harpy?

Thanks again...

Well Thombrogan my friend it truly was a concerted effort from a lot of us to feed that thread till it got noticed. We beat the drum till the hierarchy of the Great Spyder Factory couldn't stand to listen to us anymore :D
By the way the big Hawkbill thread I think has finally ran it's course. Haven't seen it since December :o . I still can't believe how many Spyder-heads contributed to that one  . It's like the Bible says: "you have not because you ask not" >> Well I certainly didn't want that to be the case for our new, highly sought after HAWKBILL

I am certainly looking forward to the Superhawk and I am very encouraged to the interest and anticipation it has manifested. I wonder what blade steel they finally settled on  A SUPERHAWK and a P'KAL both will be just what the DOCTOR ordered ( Lecter that is  :D ). Felly Jr. will have to wait his turn :D

i am in for one, serrated edge if they have it. i like the slighty straighter blade, at least it looks as if it is.

that handle looks rock solid with choils front and rear, no slips, g-10 is the best handle material that i know of.:) i will take your word on the compression lock.

imagine if the goverment was as responsive to the people as spyderco.....

My guess on less curve is that as the length of the blade gets longer, you have to reduce the curvature. Otherwise the knife gets too wide when closed and wouldn't fit into the pocket. A highly curved blade sticks out further from the handle than a less curved blade.

I like it...although I'd prefer a more traditional blade shape. But I'll definitely consider buying one, depending on how big it is...it looks enormous closed, but if the blade's only 3 inches, it's probably not as bad as it seems.

Part of the idea behind the Superhawk was that the blade would be bigger than the standard 3" fair currently being offered.

People wanted a 3.5-4" hawkbill that was MBC rated.

I love the longer blade.
What does everyone think about the absence of steel liners? I guess this way both the cost and weight will be kept down...
