The Superhawk Finally

Will this beauty be available with CE or SE?

It matters only in terms of how many I'll have to order.

I will have to get one.........or ....two! WOW this forum gets real expensive, real fast!

I just love paired blades. I carried a Military and a Civilian for years. Then it was the Endura and the Spyderhawk or Matriarch depending on my mood. At work, because of a blade length limitation I carry a Delica and a Merlin. When this comes out I'll be carrying it with my Chinook. ECSTASY!!!!

Wow I love this idea of the SuperHawk, as hawkbills RocK in the cutting dept.
Must be why I have about 6 different Spyderco hawkbills, please keep the Wire clip, and make a serrated edge version.

I think I am going to have to buy two of these, I have been wanting something like this for years from Spyderco.:D

What I find most interesting is the number of people in this thread who would like to see it in SE. Completely the opposite on the other forum, where everyone wants PE.

Well Scott what I find much more interesting is that when I started the big Hawkbill thread almost 2 years ago I mentioned that the new Hawkbill should also be available in Combo edge which would be an inovation of sorts because I don't believe I've ever seen a Hawkbill in CE. And at that time I had quite a few folks agree with me. Now you don't hear any mention of it at all.

However I'm not going to quit beating the drum for a combo edged Hawkbill. They sell a bunch of conventional blades with combo edges so why not try it on a premium Hawkbill. It would be so appropriate for Spyderco to be the first one to do it. NOW is not only the time for a NEW HAWKBILL but now is also the time for a new variety of Hawkbill as well.

Albeit I will be buying the Superhawk in every configuration and variety that they make it in. I sure miss that ol big Hawkbill thread. A lot of us got to know each other there :)

Has it been two years already? I joined halfway through that thread, and I can't remember when that was.

I'm not usually a fan of CE, but on a Hawkbill, I think its one of the best edge choices, as its a nice compromise between intended uses. You've got some SE for those who use it as a tool, and some PE for those who prefer it as a weapon.

Not to mention on a blade like a Hawkbill, if you need more than a few serrations to cut something, than your serrations aren't good. CE is more than sufficient.

" I don't believe I've ever seen a Hawkbill in CE"
JD, I'm sitting here gazing at my CE Byrd Crossbill. If you count the Byrds, then yes, Spyderco has indeed "Been there, and done that".

Now to see CE on this incarnation you've inspired would be the REAL DEAL!

Sal, hopefully this will have the larger size SpydieHole as the Spyderhawk does?

Also from the photo's it looks like it has a flat grind, if so cool. As this should give the tip more strength for utility use.

I can't understand why some people don't like the wire clip, it's rounded edges are so much more user friendly, for car's, furniture, not snagging etc...

Any word on these?

Yes: I need one!

Oh, you meant from Sal, Joyce, or Kristi. :o

My favorite lock, my favorite bladeshape, my favorite pocketclip steel, one of my favorite steels (I'm down to 600-700 favorite steels), and my favorite company (headed by my favorite designer/inventor). My my my my my...

I have to say, what’s really selling me on this design is the handle. After I got the Chinook III I thought, “Man this is a great knife. Now only if they made a wharncliff version.” Better, it’s a hawkbill. It doesn’t look like it will be as secure as the Chinook III but the similarities are there. This knife should be good in all four grip positions, with the compression lock. Nice.

Sal, can I ask what the thickness on the lock side steel liner will be? After hearing the few complaints of vertical play on the Para-Military (and owning the SS ATR) I prefer to have the lock bar thicker than thinner.

I do exactly the same thing, except smaller :D

One of my favorite pairs is the Dodo and Salsa :D

I am definately going to grab one of these as soon as they come out, and maybe even a chinook or manix to go with it...

Long Live the SE hawkbill!!!
