Cooked pineapple and chicken for the wife. It turned out horrific, but the 5.1 never missed a beat. Still shaving sharp. I will conquer you on the grill pineapple, this won't be the last time we meet.
 
Yea they do good just by themselves but I been trying to find a better way to cook them with my chicken. When the juices get on the meat it gets too moist while trying to cook it. So I guess that's just how I'll have too cook em.
 
Looks like you're getting a lot of enjoyment out of the 5.1. I let mine go to help pay for a 4.7 starter with the logic that I might be able to grab a new model 5.1 since it's the first of the new runs to hit, and I'd have the chance to rebuild funds by then. So here I am going into fall with neither, real brainy idea HK!! Oh well, not like I don't have others to use, but the 3.5 may have to play 'little big knife' for awhile. :)
 
I hadn't got out and used it but just lil things around the house. Fixing my son an apple "I need my 5.1 hun!!" Cutting a pineapple "5.1 your up" cleaning my under nails "5.1!!!!!" Second thought I'd like to keep that finger. "Nail file!!!"

All jokes aside I love this thing. It feels amazing. I didn't think I'd like the choil but a little feather sticking the other night it really made a difference.
 
I agree on the choil, especially now that the GSO 6 is coming soon as a full 6" choilless blade. And also with the 4.7 taking the place of the 5 as a choilless option. I like it on the 5.1 in the 'one-knife' kind of role.
 
Why no more "girlie" colors?

I just realized the 4.1 is the only one with pink or purple. However the starters its not available. I was hoping to surprise the wifey with a purple and black S! Knife. :(
 
I thought about going outside the norm on the 2.7 as well, but then settled on the old standbys. I would love to see more colors in the micarta. I very seldom go with G10, and Survive's micarta is finished exactly as I like it.
 
One handle material that Guy might consider for the future is Shadetree. Andy Roy has been using it on the Fiddlebacks, and it has proven to be very funtional with very colerful options.

If you're ever bored, go scroll through old pics on the official S! FB page. There are some pics of old test ideas with crazy colors for handles and sheaths. I can imagine either trying to have tons of random stuff in stock or waiting for an order then getting it made would be a hastle. Who knows what the future holds!
 
Last night there was a little storm, but pretty high winds for these parts, about 50 mph.

I found some nice tree limbs down in the back yard as if the earth mother was saying "here, have some fun with these and see what your GSO 5 can do".
 
They still offer 4.1 in old spec g10. They have pink and purple. Guess I'll have to get a set and get on a search for a 4.1 lol.

It is the one that goes with me when I am not really planning on staying out overnight in the spring/summer/fall but could in a pinch. And it is on my hip every time I'm out chasing bear with dogs and need to be mobile. It houses a Swamprat RMD and their skeletonized Warden. A GSO 5.1 could easily be used in place of the RMD, and I've thought about doing a rig like this with a 'scale-less' 3.5, maybe with a cord-wrapped handle.

Now I love that sheath, but the maker got banned here so I feel like I shouldn't go there......however, I will show some more pics of it and what it houses. I will say this, if there are any benders that happen through here, I feel like there is a market for this kind of setup that is not EASILY found on the internet. I know there are guys out there that will build this kind of thing, but it takes quite a bit of effort to get it all to come together whereas it was very easy to order from the original maker.

And a few showing some of the contents. I've added a bit of charcloth and fat wood since. Maybe some other stuff too, I'm usually fiddling with contents or upgrading, ha. Easily changed for what each person intends to carry. There's about half a jelly cottonball in the cap of the exotac firesteel as well. The pouch is an esee pouch made for the size of an altoids tin, so really any maker that had the pouch in his hands would have the hole pattern for attachment. Pretty tidy carry. :)





And credit where it's due, I saw a setup from my Rat buddy Worldwood, and then modified it to my uses because I like it so much :thumbup:

Is that a grenade pouch or phone pouch that holds that altoids tin?? I dig the sheath hardware on that. Functional. :thumbup:
 
No I got a stylus pro in there now but that one is the micro stream. Its a good hat light. But the button seemed to quit on me. I think its about 10 lumins and the stylus pro was 60(?) Please correct me if in wrong. I can't remember for sure. There both the C4 led I believe is what its called.

I edc a browning twist light. Its a hat light too. I'm in dark spaces all the time.
 
I've got a light on me all the time, too. Everyone ribs me about it until they need it, ha. I've got a little foursevens twist light, their miniX 123. I like it for a hat light with the three settings its got. I had to find a clip to fit it though, didn't come with one.
