The Survive! Never Say Die! Chat Thread

I've got a light on me all the time, too. Everyone ribs me about it until they need it, ha. I've got a little foursevens twist light, their miniX 123. I like it for a hat light with the three settings its got. I had to find a clip to fit it though, didn't come with one.

Yea I watched a guy drop a brand new iPhone 6. I'd rather drop my $15 Browning light.

I finally started carrying my Eagletac D25c everyday because using the light on my iPhone sucked. It's pretty small and puts out over 400 lumens if I really need to light something up. I really like the strobe feature when I'm walking home from the bar. It'll stop a person before they even get close.

I have an Olight M18 but sometimes wish it was smaller like your D25 which would be more convenient for EDC. I do like the tail cap switch though.

Good lights, both ^. Yeah that strobe feature will about make you lose your cookies. My two cell light hits either 480 or 960 on strobe and it's just ridiculous (I know 'burst' is 960 lumens, but can't remember if it hits the same on strobe).

Karoi, if I haven't said it yet, Welcome to the forum!

Edit: top lumens is 780, not 960.

Just thought I'd leave this here...

Hey,

I might be able to help with some of the rumors, I've heard a few myself. lol

<snip>
I do in fact have a GSO-12 and h M-12(machete) in the works but it will be a bit yet before I'll be able to get to those. The big blades are really expensive to produce.

There is a folder design that I hope to be able to bring to market sometime this year, as well as several other models. I've actually got 13 unique knife models in total that are all finalized and another 3 on the drawing board, that should be completed soon. Some are revisions of current models and others are completely new. I'm beyond excited about them and believe they represent some of my very best design work to date. We do have quite a bit of CPM-3V and CPM-20CV steel waiting to be cut into fixed blades and we do already have the blade steel for the folder. I will drop this teaser, the first production run of the folders will be offered in both CPM-20CV and CPM-S90V.

-Guy

GSO-12 -- Check!!
M-12 -- Yes please, waiting....
Folder in CPM-20CV -- Impatiently Waiting... :p
Folder in CPM-S90V -- Trying not to freak out while waiting... --- ;)

All I want for Christmas is a GSO folder... :D

Did you see the post from Ellie in the preorder thread? The folder is happening soon. SOON!

Just in case anyone doesn't know this already, Guy is also a lefty. His designs always take that particular "disability" into consideration. Also, a SURVIVE! folder is happening soon. FYI.

My thoughts exactly! One of each. :)

I'm very curious how Guy has designed the folder. The blade shape I can guess... But the handle? Materials? Liner lock? Frame lock? Thumb stud or not? Hmmm...

It's pretty nice but I almost want to check out the AA version because this one is a bit chunky sometimes and the edges are pretty sharp. I should probably just file them down though!

Do you have the Fenix PD35? I have one with that same output and it's scary bright but it kills the battery really quick.
I really want to get ahold of one of the Maratac CR123 coppers once they release because they're relatively cheap and they're great looking. The only issue is that they don't have a pocket clip.

I've got the FourSevens QP2L-X Burst model. It's not too hard on batteries because it ramps down from the 780 lumens to 390 lumens after 30 seconds. Your eyes adjust, and you can hardly tell it ramps down it's so smooth. Bezel tight you toggle between Max and strobe with a reverse clicky. Bezel loosened you have several levels starting with moonlight, so it's really pretty battery-friendly. The QT2L-X works the same way with a forward clicky, except you program two levels on the loosened bezel to toggle between.

I've got one of the Maratac AAA lights that stays with my Leatherman Wave. Fits right in the side pouch, so I carry it like a firesteel.

I also have the Olight SR95S UT which I bring with me for camping and night fishing on the beach. It's definitely overkill for those activities but I sure don't regret buying it. At least if my house gets broken into and I strobe the burglar with it, he should still be at least 90% blind by the time the cops arrive to take him away :D

Thank you for the welcome!

My bank balance is not gonna look too healthy by the end of the year!

I like the twist adjustments way more than this Fenix with it's little selector switch on the side. This little Eagletac has so many different selections and different strobes that I always choose it before the Fenix. I'll have to look into the Four Sevens and Olight brands pretty soon here.

I think my Fenix light heard me talking about replacing it because the interface or the button is messed up and not working right. I'm going to pull the battery and hope it magically fixes itself or this thing is going back. It's nearly brand new and I haven't dropped it or even scratched it yet.

I got a gsx last year. 100 lumins. 3 modes. I believe it was 100/40/ and strobe. Its pretty good.

Did it just quit all together standard.

It wouldn't stay on then it finally did work but the selector switch stopped functioning. It has a fully charged Nitecore rechargeable in it so I'm curious if that's the issue. I'll have to dig out 2 of my CR123's to see what's going on.

I'm not sure of the voltage range on the Fenix, but yeah, I'd try primaries and see if that does it.

Now the damn thing is working just fine with 18650 and the cr123's. I'm going to have to do a search and see if it happens a lot with this model because I don't want this thing in my pack if it's going to act up again.
Maybe it's just time to get a Four Sevens or the new Surefire Titan Plus! Any reason to spend money!

Both of those should be tough as nails (47 and SF). I know what you mean, man. The list never seems to end.
