The Survive! Never Say Die! Chat Thread

Well it's been a while since I've been on here. My old roommates father was murdered out here in Corona and it's been pretty tough to handle. He was installing an alarm system on a house for a guy that had a restraining order against his son. The kid was released from a 5150 hold and went to the house and murdered his father and my friends dad Barry.
Barry was one hell of a great guy and a good family man and it was a honor to know the guy.
To add to this already rough time, my dog has gotten worse and I nearly lost her yesterday because her red blood cell count dropped quickly. She had a transfusion last night and is doing well but there is some sort of mass in her intestines that is causing the bleed out. I'm just praying it's an ulcer and not cancer.
Anyhow... I hope you're all doing great and I'll try to keep everyone informed on what's going on.

Damn Standard. Sending some prayers your way...

What happened to the suspect?

Thank you guys!
The suspect fled the scene but was caught the next morning driving a stolen truck. They did a pit maneuver and he took off on foot but a police dog got him. I can't get the link to post on here but the suspect was Brandon Martin. The info pops up on google.

I wish they did. Cops have to use kid gloves these days and it really sucks. Knowing our justice system out here in California, he'll probably get released on an insanity plea.

Standard,

Many condolences on the loss of what sounds like a great guy. It's especially tragic because of how completely unnecessary it was. Hopefully justice takes hold and that kid gets everything he deserves.
High hopes for your pup as well I know how wracked I get every time mine gets sick so I can only imagine. Best of luck on everything, the survive community is behind you!

Here's a few photos of my kid Gracie.

Just catching up on this thread, but nice Boston! Here's ours, love these little buggers:

But yeah, she's great. My wife grew up with dogs and wanted to get one as soon as we got a house. The only pets I had growing up were the kind that lived in cages or aquariums, but when I held her for the first time as a puppy I suddenly knew what I had been missing.

My experience as well. We had a chocolate lab when I was a kid, but hadn't had a dog in ~15 years. My wife insisted on getting our little girl and as soon as we brought her home I realized what I was missing out on.

That's too bad, wishing you guys well.

Thanks bud it's appreciated! It's been a big emotional roller coaster these last few weeks but I'm trying to stay positive. The pup is in surgery at the moment so I'm hoping for the best.

They're definitely my favorite breed of dogs! Big lovable goofballs. That's a happy little girl right there.

Standard, I am really sorry to hear about the tragic death and the condition of your puppy. Either one of those by itself would be nearly unbearable. Keep us updated. Prayers are coming.

Calc, good looking dog. Very cool how you had a similar experience to myself.

Standard, I know that nothing I will say will make your situation better. Just remember, tomorrow is a new day and time heals. My condolences for your loss and I wish you and your pup all the best.

Thank you guys! Things are looking good so far but I still have to wait on the biopsy results and hope it's not cancer. She's out of surgery now and she's high as a kite! The surgery center was kind enough to send me a photo.

Look at that face. I bet I looked like that the times I came off of anesthesia.

The snozzberries taste like snozzberries.........

Hoping she does well! Gotta love that Boston derp.

I am so sorry for your loss Standard78. I also hope that the veterinarian is able to successfully treat Gracie. They become so much a part of our families and ourselves that this is always such a worry. We have only had Lucas for a week, and he is fully integrated into our hearts.

Haha yeah she always has that face when she's snoozin! That damn tongue is always sticking out.

I just talked with the Vet and she's doing well. Her PCV(red blood cell count) is at 27 now so she is producing cells on her own. They're normally at 45-50 in a healthy dog. When I took her in on Monday she was at 12 and the vet was shocked that she was alive and walking around. This little brat is a fighter!

I'm really glad to hear that Lucas has already stolen your guy's hearts! It's amazing what a good pup can do for moral!
