The Survive! Never Say Die! Chat Thread

OK so posted recently on all my fathers misfortune with knives. I felt bad considering what a wonderful and caring man he is and how he always puts others before himself. My wife and I decided he deserves something to match the wonderful person he is. To help replace an old knife from his childhood with something new he could pass down through our family. (Since his has been stolen)
Specs: Dan Harrison custom
OAL: 10"
BL: 5.5"
HL: 4.5"
Weight: unknown but feels extremely light almost as light as my 3.25" blade.
Blade type: custom Bandera blade, hollow ground with convex edge (very sharp)
Steel: D2
Handle material: Axis with brass bolsters.
Leather: done by Mr. Harrison's wife ( I believe this is true but not 100%)

This is next to mine he bought 15+ years ago. It was a Kershaw product hand made by Dan himself.

Excellent feel in hand. Handle has a slight curve that some how falls in place in any grip I put it in. (For skinning purposes)

Like I stated before it us surprisingly light weight for thus size.

This baby rides like a dream. I had to take it off cause I knew if I didn't I wouldn't let it go home to him.

In conclusion, this spectacular knife is for Avery deserving and wonderful man. Its only a small token I can give back after all of the many years he has given so much to me. I hope y'all enjoyed this and if your old mans still here give him a big hug, cause let's face it they deserve one for all they've done.

You're a good dude TT and that's an amazing knife! I can't wait to here about his reaction!

I think he was a bit upset cause he knows how much Dan's knives go for, but he loved it. I gave it to my kiddo (named after my father.) to hand him. You could tell he was pretty touched.

awesome job TT I am sure he will cherish it for years to come. The classic design and custom aspects really are nice!

Definitely has that Texas charm

It has been nice following this story and it's great to see this blade. You're a good man, Tex!

We've been whackin' and stackin' here. :) Mostly just freezer-fillers. I'm pulling out early tomorrow for a few days of elk hunting. Hoping I can get my dad or my girl on a bull and gets some pics for the trophy room thread, ha! Big or little, they're all trophies to me. Hope you all are having a good season.

So nobody carved a pumpkin with a GSO???

I actually picked up a pumpkin for exactly that earlier this week, just haven't gotten around to it yet. Although I'm a little skeptical of it - my 3.5 is the right length, but it seems to be way too thick to do something like carving a pumpkin. I tried with a Fallkniven F1 a couple years ago and it worked more as a wedge than a slicer. But we'll see how it turns out.

^ This. I used my SK4 to make goat-chops, cutting through the spine, but carving a pumpkin is suited to a thinner stock and less wide blade for making tight turns...
