I knew that I wanted micarta on this knife, so it stood between canvas and linen.. and in the end I finally went with green canvas handles.
I think I went with the ferro notch and black oxide fasteners if I remember correctly.

Sounds great. I went with black canvas and black sheath.
EDIT to add: I have no idea what my next GSO purchase will be, but right now I'm thinking the handle needs to be red linen and the sheath has to gray.

On another note I'm really anxious to hear what this week's first Friday update will foretell!

Me too - I'm anticipating new info about the 4.1s/5.0s I've got ordered as well as looking forward to see how the new 5.1s are coming along.

That's about what I was thinking of going for, except w/o the notch. Green Canvas, black fasteners, and OD green sheath. Can't say why, but green just seems 'right' on the 5.

LOL, Yes it does look great on the site picture. :)

I think those are linen or G10 scales though, and I was looking at black fasteners by default as the tumbled were out of stock.

I hope I like my black handles. It seems like the majority of S! color schemes I see are camo, green, brown or tan. They all look good, but those earth tones seem the most common.

Here's my 5.1 in Black G10. Pic is from the sales thread, and it looks better real-world.

Any Survive! news from the outside world, SN?

Not too much to report, my man.

A few 3.5 inqueries on Facebook.

I'm hoping for big things tomorrow in the 1st Friday Update! The last of the old 3.5's getting sent out. Old 4.1's finishing up and sending out. 5 progress? Starter 5.1 and 4.7 updates?

Yeah, the progress report maybe will tide me over through the weekend, ha! Thanks bud.

Hard Knocks! Tell us about your piggy back rig that you showed in the Universal Kydex Extension thread. Even though there are not GSO's in it, I'm sure that knowing about the kydex bender and the gear you have could inspire some of us here!

Agreed - I saw that pic and that's a great way to carry the small/large combo!

I agree. I like the set up and may steal some ideas from it. I been wanting to piggy back my necker II on my laser strike.
Mike at MCQ Bushcraft had a pretty good idea on his cordage wrap. It may be a little better way to get more on your set up.

Ill try posting some pictures of my laser strike when i get back. (as long as i wont get taken out back and beat)

Thank you fellas! I do love that system when I am traveling light. It is the one that goes with me when I am not really planning on staying out overnight in the spring/summer/fall but could in a pinch. And it is on my hip every time I'm out chasing bear with dogs and need to be mobile. It houses a Swamprat RMD and their skeletonized Warden. A GSO 5.1 could easily be used in place of the RMD, and I've thought about doing a rig like this with a 'scale-less' 3.5, maybe with a cord-wrapped handle.

Now I love that sheath, but the maker got banned here so I feel like I shouldn't go there......however, I will show some more pics of it and what it houses. I will say this, if there are any benders that happen through here, I feel like there is a market for this kind of setup that is not EASILY found on the internet. I know there are guys out there that will build this kind of thing, but it takes quite a bit of effort to get it all to come together whereas it was very easy to order from the original maker.

Pics from the UKE thread:

A couple more when it was brand new :)

And a few showing some of the contents. I've added a bit of charcloth and fat wood since. Maybe some other stuff too, I'm usually fiddling with contents or upgrading, ha. Easily changed for what each person intends to carry. There's about half a jelly cottonball in the cap of the exotac firesteel as well. The pouch is an esee pouch made for the size of an altoids tin, so really any maker that had the pouch in his hands would have the hole pattern for attachment. Pretty tidy carry. :)

And credit where it's due, I saw a setup from my Rat buddy Worldwood, and then modified it to my uses because I like it so much

I'll bet HaleStorm could build this kind of setup, or even the scout carry in the time to your door thread.

If a guy wanted to go with leather, this setup works well too. Can't carry the tin, but does still have some storage.

I can see a 7/7 or maybe even that 8 ;) working well this way.

Texas! I missed this somehow. Thanks for posting the video bud. I may have to give that wrap a try.

Nobody has taken me to the woodshed (yet) :) I think we're trying to talk sheath systems here, so I don't see a problem, post those pics. Especially if you've got a necker piggybacked up to something

I want to piggy back it with my 7/7 but it has not arrived. :( And i cant seem to pry it from my boot long enough to try it with my esse LS. but its been a thought of mine to do so for a while.

Oh snap! Congrats to all those who helped SURVIVE! "clear out" they're old stock. I just noticed that the factory second GSO 5's are sold out, meaning all old stuff is gone. Wow!
