The thread jacking has got to end!

Good points Dylside. What happened is we got pretty lenient on some posts and then all of a sudden everyone's a comedian and the whole forum is becoming junk rather quickly. So Andy and Barney are now on patrol! Clean up this town guys. You might make a thread stating what's going on and why for all the whiners that will wonder why we're deleting their posts ;)

If a topic takes a turn that is rational and along the same original theme, by all means address it accordingly. I don't think that every topic has to end the same as it started. For example, if someone starts a topic about which fire starting method works best and it turns into a discussion about different firesteel properties and then even changes again to which striker works well, good deal. If it gets too far out of range, like if the topic started about fire making and then someone started talking about getting peed on by a black bear, and it wasn't while he was trying to make a fire, that's bad. You can start a brand new thread to talk about that. Also, posting silly pictures just for thr sake of posting or trying to make people laugh, it's not an sbolute no no, but try to limit it. If someone else already did it, appreciate their selection of a good picture, but don't retort with your own. The silly pictures have a tendancy to go crazy real quick. Get where I'm going? Just keep things reasonably on topic. If the topic evolves, cool. If it totally changes direction to useless shit, that's a no-go.

I gotcha Bro.....
I know how the threads should go.... but random stuff has got to go!

Alright. Stop it! You people never keep a thread serious and on topic. and by "you people", I DO mean every bad way you can take it. I love the RAT Pack peeps, but every thread in this damn forum gets destroyed. Let's do off topic threads for when everyone wants to cut loose and post silly stuff, and keep the rest of these clean. Cool with everyone else? I don't mean to sound like a dick. I'm just tired of sifting through pages of crap to figure out what the hell the thread was about. I love all of you. Please don't think I'm trying to be mean or a party pooper. I know I've contributed to more than my share of yanking threads off topic with a quickness. It was fun for a minute, but now it's hurting us. We've got to start keeping these threads clean and on topic. Time to get back to being the good information sharing RAT Packers we once were.

seriously just spit subway out lol...way to be.

Your opinion is rational and well stated, I respect it. Thanks for the explanation.

No problemo guys. When it comes down to it, I just want this to be the best forum.

I agree 100%. I barely read most of the topics anymore due to them being hijacked after the second post.

I'M IN FULL, 100% AGREEMENT! I'm getting to where I rarely look at all the threads because they are so screwed up. Not blaming anyone. I have equal share in this blame but let's start trying to run a little bit tighter ship, ok?

Locking the newest bacon threads didn't speak for itself? :D

I thought thread jacking was on a decline here, seriously.

Thanks for this. I don't mind the off topic threads, but the off topic posts in the serious threads really bug me.

Right before I started this thread, I had clicked on a thread just started yesterday that had already gotten jacked both barrels and I no longer cared to look at it. Even though the jacking was on the decline, that just isn't enough. We need to nip this crap up. It doesn't need to slow down. It just needs to stop all together.

I totally agree too! I started a OT thread a while back and it didn't help. I haven't been reading threads as much because like others said, I don't like going through 3 pages of bacon or naked chicks to get to 1 good post. There is no incentive to keep reading.

Hopefully we get back on track! I've learned a lot on these forums and this one is by far my favorite.

While keeping good info flowing and being a useful resource are paramount, The relaxed atmosphere, and good natured people are what drew me here as well. Finding the balance can be difficult, but I'm pretty confident it can be accomplished, The mods here seem top-notch and dedicated.

:D I am sure a balance can be had .... Nothing more should change except cutting out the thread jacking. Enjoy our Forum Guys/Gals ,we have some of the best people on our forum and barely needed Modding to begin with ... but the relaxed atmosphere kinda had it's boundaries tested and the threads with good info became clouded and it became more work to sort out....

OH! and no more posting videos of somebody getting killed. I know that was like a one time deal, but come on. There are some kids that stroll through this forum from time to time and they don't ever need to see that stuff. Sometimes our language gets a bit much but that's still ok. Kids can choose not to use foul language themselves. Kids can't choose not to have nightmares about seeing a guy get beaten to death and making the noises that go with it. I'm pretty lax on other stuff when it comes to kids. I think they can make their own decisions on what their behavior should be (to a point) and I think good kids will be good kids and bad kids will be bad, no matter what you try to shield them from, but seeing someone die is just not good. Kids don't need to see that here. If they want to look it up on their own, so be it, but we don't need to help them find it. Not pointing fingers or anything. Just making a suggestion for the future. I know I've personally recommended this forum to a couple of people for their kids that are into knives and the last thing I want is for some kid to find something like that here whilst following the trail I lead to what I believe is a good place to learn from.

Hmmm. I can't help but feel that all this drama is at least partially directed at me. If it is, I'm not much for subtlety, and a PM woulda been less dramatic and more to the point. If it's not then I apologize for my over sensitivity and you can feel free to ignore the rest of this post.

I'm not a regular poster on this forum, though I do post occasionally and read a lot. Though my "boobies and bacon" pic was technically on-topic with the OP, it may not have been where others wanted the thread to go, and I'm sorry if it led to some of the regulars here being offended. Personally I was just posting a funny pic, because that's what popped into my head when I read "boobies and bacon" in the OP and was amused by it. Judging from some of the other threads and posts here, I really didn't think it was out of line. I apologize for the misunderstanding.

Jeff, PM incoming. Dylan, PM incoming.
