The thread jacking has got to end!

Coming from a Newb but long time lurker, I can only give my personal impression, which of course is based on my individual expectations for this forum.

All of my experiences on this forum have been very positive, and I have not felt anything but welcomed into a very friendly and informative environment. My individual expectations of what I want to get out of this forum have not only been met, but have been exceeded. For me, it's a nice place to come to whether I want to learn something, or just looking for a laugh.

At the same time, it is also nice to see everyone come together here in such a civilized way, and be able to discuss ways they feel the forum could be improved to meet the needs of it's members, based on input from members.

For me the forum is perfect the way it is......but hey, if you want to improve on perfection go ahead.

Please understand that in this post I don't mean to ruffle feathers and I mean this to sound in the nicest of ways.

For anyone who feels that this place is cliquey, frat like, or too tight knit, you should know that the RAT family is one of the nicest, most generous, and most helpful bunch out there. True, we all have our opinions on certain subjects such as how a business should be run, what constitutes a good person, morality and ethics, but that is what binds us together. We all feel very similar about things and that is partly what makes us a tight group. It doesn't mean that we don't welcome new people in with open arms. It simply means that we acknowledge that common "code of honor" for lack of a better term and it's what brings us together. Many people in this group have done generous things for people they've never met, and more importantly, never even spoken to on this forum. There have been quite a few threads that started with someone making their first post in this forum that was immediately addressed by a RAT person helping out someone brand new to the group. Whether it was shipping stuff to someone over seas that otherwise couldn't get whatever it was, or just helping someone out with some better gear. The people here do great things for others with no prior relationship to that person or history with them what so ever. In my opinion, that's pretty powerful. Now if someone comes here, reads a few threads and decides that this group is too tight knit and such, then it is that person's loss. Sometimes people get their feathers ruffled by our having a different opinion than theirs. That's fine too. Bottom line is, we have no problem excepting new people, and sometimes new people just have a problem excepting us, based on some initial face value. Whatever the case, I believe that this is still the greatest group of people on these forums and I only wish our group to get larger and tighter. If enjoying the closeness and comradery of this group is a problem for someone, then we don't need them.

I've made alot of good friends on this forum, ( my apologies to those who consider that a clique) and I just kinda take the good with the bad. Sometimes the topics take a turn for the worse, and I just stop reading. But I still feel that the RAT pack, as well as the newer members have alot of good to contribute, and for the most part are willing to help anyone in need.
I also agree with Dylside that we need to be a little more focused, and try to keep some of the unnecessary junk out.
But with that said, I still feel this can be a fun place, and I hope that everyone sticks around to see it get better and better.

Maybe the hijackings have gotten out of hand. . .

I mean, from the thread title, I expected to see a pic of some naked fat guy sitting in from of a computer, you know. . .jacking.

I'm really glad I was wrong.

But, IMO, Boats still needs to post his pictures.

Does this mean no more joke pic threads?:D

I hang out in other forums too, especially the Busse forum, but this one is my favorite. I can't put my finger on it but there is more of a "close family" atmosphere around here. I think that it is one of the best forums as far as respect for other posters is concerned. I also love how that new posters are welcomed with open arms.

My hat's off to all of you.

I've got to second that. Many of the outdoors/firearms/etc and so forth forums I've been to are very harsh to newcomers. I haven't seen of the "stfu n00b" that's become prevalent across the internet when people have honest questions. When I first got here, it was more like someone pulled up to me on the street with a big black van, threw open the door and said "come here little boy, we have candy"

I like cherry suckers....btw
