Peregrin I would not object to this thread being closed as it seems like it has served its purpose?
Heh, given that you know where I like to hang out, I'd find the entire thing amusing and entirely pedestrian. Some folks are acting like deep personal insults are being flung around because some other folks are seeing what's going on and have questions, which I find just flat out adorable. If nothing else, it certainly continues to keep this thread moving!![]()
I propose we let meako clarifyI thought BOG OAK was just a fancy name for pirate ship decking already.![]()
Honestly, I'd leave it open - one of us would simply start a new one as it gives us a place to discuss the knife. The bickering and such can be managed.
I have a pretty darned thick skin and I understand how online discussions operate versus face-to-face conversation. Still, it always raises hackles and ruffles feathers for some, whether the intent was there or not. Something I mentioned way back in the thread - GEC has never been a more contentious topic - I think it's never been more true.
That's a real nice size for me. Im a sucker for single blade traditional knives that size.If they use the same blade as they used on the previous run of 86s (which I can't imagine they won't), then it will measure roughly around 3" - a hair over, I think.
As am I.That's a real nice size for me. Im a sucker for single blade traditional knives that size.

It'll give us a place to discuss, cajole and continue the contentious comments.Honestly, I'd leave it open - one of us would simply start a new one as it gives us a place to discuss the knife. The bickering and such can be managed.
Yeah, I might need to rethink that line...
Seriously though, one of the most compelling things about this sub when I first sauntered in was the welcome. Despite some of my bone-headed questions and threads, the folks here still made me feel like I was part of the crew. I wouldn't mind seeing more of that spirit.
Blue camel bone would be epic...This thread is serving as a useful outlet for discussion. Closing it would be counterproductive, I think.
On the topic of covers, I am a strong supporter of white bone, or a mottled appaloosa/white bone. Smooth bone covers are my favorite on knives (I am a HUGE fan of the GEC knives with colored camel bone) and a Barlow with such would put a big smile on my face.
If I may...
From what I understand, the BF knife was basically created for the traditional folks. Correct me if I am wrong. Nicely, please.![]()

Jigged blue camel bone would be truly unique (never seen that).
