I wonder what's got you so soured on attaining a marvelous specimen of pocket cutlery, procured by some of our finest forum members?

I think all you're doing is just rescinding your estimated desire to maybe purchase 2 forum knives and firing an odd shot across the bow on your way out.

I wouldn't let the concern over contributing member legitimacy bother you. I think it's a great thing that people are concerned about making a distinction, because it makes a communal forum knife that much more meaningful. I'm also very interested in discouraging flipping as much as possible.

I don’t enjoy the bickering on this particular thread. Don’t care to participate anymore.
not gonna buy any forum knives.
Not much else to say -

I see we are back to flogging deceased equines again...

I share the concerns stated by many but I've already said my piece on it in a number of places - I don't feel it bears repeating. I don't feel that folks need to give justification for why they want two knives, as the reasons can vary a fair bit. I've ordered two knives the last couple of years for the sheer purpose of safeguarding against the variances in natural materials - with the added bonus that I could help out a fella who missed out initially if possible (which I did with the 2019 knife).

I am of a mind to sit back, let the cards fall as they may, and allow the mods and organizers sort it as they see fit. The ordering process for the GEC-made 2019 knife was rather painless (aside from folks not fulfilling their commitments - but we collectively stepped up in that regard). I don't see why this year will be any different - unless the count is so absurd that Bill just laughs at us...

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Whatever becomes of this, I'd be happy to have been part of it! (though a BF knife 2021 will be a definite cherry on top!) :D

Has there ever been a bad forum knife? Maybe some untoward characters will try to profit from others' generosity, but that what happens when great things get noticed. Still, we can be glad that such great things continue to come to pass, in spite of those who would corrupt themselves by turning them into fleeting gain.

No synthetics due to @waynorth exquisite taste. ;) This is my understanding.
Well that's a bummer but understood...

Never had much luck with the wood covers.

I always carry in my 'watch pocket' and I'm a bit of a sweaty dude when I'm working outside...

The 86 in sucker rod didn't like the summer conditions so I sold that one to my boss.

I was surprised that the covers would swell as much as they did; was hoping the oil impregnation would prevent that.

Is micarta even in the running?

Would love it in OD.

How does bone or stag hold up for you - any better? There is something to be said for impervious materials, for sure. Now if only we can find said materials with a bit of soul in them...

No problems at all there...

Peppering is a constant on the one's that I carry, but that's as acceptable as any other sort of patina I suppose.

Given that I've rusted the slide on my G26 and M&P9c when I carry in the summer I've figured that I've got some crazy acidic sweat or something.

So it may just be a personal problem!

There are some other folks here who have described their caustic sweat as well - it tends to drive them away from GECs and their 1095. I never had any issues with the slides of my pistols rusting when I worked a more physically active job - I think that would drive me nuts. I don't mind patina but I really dislike rust. I used to shoot a lot of black powder - still do when the occasion permits - I could never get my guns clean fast enough.
