My last word on the subject...
We are already being "exclusive" with the 3 month and 25 post requirement.
Being more exclusive for multiple knife orders is just ensuring that regulars have that chance.
If we are all so worried about being "inclusive", then we should do away with all the requirements all-together.

Agreed. Who's got a list of those who are helping, and the means by which to make this possible?
I think this is a very porchly act; very becoming of a porchenburger.
How about the “Johnny come lately” people like myself be the ones to incur the added costs and cover the list of people who made a forum knife a reality? I think this is fair.
Additionally, I would like only one so is there a way to to volunteer down the road to cover a qualified member who for circumstances beyond their control cannot purchase in order to still receive one?

JohnDF JohnDF , okay, let's start our first poll.

Do you really believe this will be John's last word on the subject...? - Yes or No

Jon0385 Jon0385 , you have been a member longer than JohnDF and I. Please stop being concerned. You are not a Johnny come lately.

The rules are set. Let's please just let the moderators do their job.

Pàdruig Pàdruig , calling me crotchety is an insult to crotchety folks. Seriously, I always try to support those who are given the short end of the stick, and I plan to continue to do so. We should be welcoming to everyone, not just a few. Some people who were entirely qualified have been run off. That is just not right.

Put yourself back in the shoes you were in when you first strolled up to the Porch - if a bunch of crotchety folks were bickering and such, I'd have had half a mind to go back where I came from.

I could put together some micarta mock-ups pretty quick but wasn't sure if it was even going to be an option. It was used on a BF knife in the past but I doubt it will fly for this one. If it ends up in the polls I will post them up.

I wanted to thank you for doing the mock-up of the glittery gold handle covers. :D:D:D:D:D:D

I bet on No.

I’m honestly not concerned. I was just proposing a possible solution to some problems people had. Kind of a take or leave it thing.

I'd think, "Ah...sounds just like home." :D:thumbsup:

Yeah, I might need to rethink that line... :D

Seriously though, one of the most compelling things about this sub when I first sauntered in was the welcome. Despite some of my bone-headed questions and threads, the folks here still made me feel like I was part of the crew. I wouldn't mind seeing more of that spirit.

In fact, my very first forum knife was a gift from a member that I haven't seen here in quite awhile - I was still very much wet behind the ears at that point. An example of what the fine folks here are capable of.

No need to hold a poll, design should be set as smooth Ivory bone since Charlie seems to be leaning that way and he pulled a lot of weight to make this BF knife happen at GEC ha!

I only JOKE! but only half joke bc I'm also partial towards Ivory bone.

Either way I was too new to qualify for the 2019 BF knife and only jumped in late in the game on the 2020 BF knife bc it looked like lots of people were pulling out. This is my first time contributing to the design process of our BF knife and its been a fun journey so far, so I look forward to the polls.

I was going to let this go, but I'm fed up. I've got a troll who has taken exception to my participation here. I've posted hundreds of pictures, helped out with questions, and generally added to the mayhem. You folks are discouraging other active, productive members with your second-guessing their motives, accusing them of being opportunistic and being flippers. Intimating that there should be tiers of eligibility, etc.

I never fully bought into the 'Porch' thing. I've seen how many of you make it a point of letting everyone know how discerning you are, what the right knives are, and so forth. I've tried to just ignore it and participate here for my own amusement.

Now you've made it personal.

Is it worth it? Over a hobby? Your satisfaction must be endless.

Heh, given that you know where I like to hang out, I'd find the entire thing amusing and entirely pedestrian. Some folks are acting like deep personal insults are being flung around because some other folks are seeing what's going on and have questions, which I find just flat out adorable. If nothing else, it certainly continues to keep this thread moving! :D

I like it a lot. About how long would that blade be?

If they use the same blade as they used on the previous run of 86s (which I can't imagine they won't), then it will measure roughly around 3" - a hair over, I think.
