If they're "recurved" its very slight,I sharpen mine exactly like any other knives that I own.
10" mill bastard? :D

Seriously, I heard others discussing it on the oil fields, but I didn't keep mine long enough to try to sharpen it. I know that if it bothers me, I can straighten the edge, but I would like it better if it just came straight. If you use narrower sharpeners, like a crock stick, or a small hand held stone, I imagine it would be no problem at all, but a large, flat stone, diamond or otherwise might make it more difficult.
I'm very likely making a mountain out of a molehill..... I still can't wait to get one, or two.

we think very much alike on this. A recurve seems kind of senseless to me, since that’s what the sharpening choil is there to avoid. But if Bill is involved I’m sure there’s a reason or precedent.

Old Remington's and PAL Jacks had a slight recurve to their clip points.

It's pretty subtle on the 86

One more time. The knife is avaliable to ANY BladeForums member meeting the requirements stated, as I posted earlier.

I'm not going to belabor this, but the requirements that were posted have been the requirements, for the most part, for a number of years now. The membership requirement being 3 months. The posting requirement, less selling and trading, is 25 posts anywhere in BladeForums. As long as both of those are met, and you're not a flipper (we have been keeping a list of known flippers), you qualify.
Slice and dice it anyway you want, but unless something changes that's the deal.

We'd also like to see some folks sign up for paid memberships, to say thanks to the forum owner, Kevin.

I like the Buck idea... a switch up is a good thing

I don't believe Buck was an option for us this year because they were/are in a similar boat with regards to ceasing SFOs for a time. I am not sure if they have resumed taking them on or not but I suspect they will eventually if they haven't already. It would be good to have Buck as an option for future forum knives - having more options to choose from is always a good thing.

Bench grinder:D:thumbsup:
I'll try to get a pic later on a flat surface, its very minuscule. It's more optical illusion than anything, from the choil to the belly it is almost the same profile as the 85's fat spear;)

I could climb aboard the black camel bone train. May be only the two of us tho!
NEW LOOK... same posts...
speaking of new looks, has anyone come over to the dark side?
... and by that I mean the smooth black camel bone option.
Now that everyone's older and wiser I'm hoping opinions have swayed to this correct option.

Do you have to have a certain amount of posts to be able to be able to get the fourm knife? I mostly just read through whole posts but don't reply. Just curious since this would be a first for me if I could get one.

Yes. The qualification criteria is listed on the first post of the “First BF knife post” thread

Odd...

New forum software keeps substituting "black" for "blue".

;)
