The unofficial, non binding, carries no weight, 2021 forum knife possibility discussion thread

Yeah, that’s because all you guys chose a barlow and are now wanting it in red soup bone!

sheesh. Who doesn’t want one of those!

Imagine if every company wanting an SFO and every club wanting a knife built looked at every knife in GEC’s back catalogue and picked out the most popular and (until then) rarest pattern, and said ‘We have a whole bunch of guys who technically aren’t part of a club, but they all have their hands up, and gee Bill, can you help us out?’

I love the BF knife, but I don’t think it’s ever been a means to get a cheap copy of a popular pattern, and I don’t think it should be.
I thought this was the pattern that Bill offered to make.

OH NO, I am in real trouble if r8shell starts proofreading my posts for grammar!

I've been keeping up with it. Haven't had much to say so far, just waiting for the process to unfold.
You’re fine. Check a page or two back for a chuckle. I’m just waiting for the next concerned forum member to chime in with the, “wait, can I still get a forum knife?! What pattern is it?!? SOMEONE TAKE MY MONEY!!!!” post again. I’m guessing we’ll see it in a day or two.

for the record, I don’t blame them, but it’s like someone asking if you’ve seen their sunglasses, but you notice the sunny’s are already on their head.

My favorite is the time someone noticed the sticky pole was closed, and came here looking for info on the pattern... so you know they didn’t open up that thread and read the first post.

it’s human nature- we like quick answers.

Some more from the dusty old pages of this well thumbed travellers guide to Porchenberg:
"The newcomer will find themselves in need of transport from the perils of New Porchford Harbour...put simply there is none. A brief brisk walk will take one through the rich fertile lands of the forum, past the historic Roman Fortifications and the Narwhale Tryworks and Rendering Plant into the town of Porchenberg....the friendly locals eye all travellers with suspicion at first...then out and out hatred ...eventually mellowing after several years to grudging toleration. Avoid at all costs mentioning the years forum knife to the locals...in the past this has led to civil disobedience and rioting has ensued.
A notable feature of the town is Porchenberg Castle with its old burnt out mill....now sadly in ruins ...it stands as a monument to past glory and what can be achieved when the Porcheteers pull together and actually agree on something. Fortunately owing to its atmosphere of curmudgeonly gloom the Castle and grounds are being refurbished as a rest home and halfway house care facility for aged and mentally unstable knife enthusiasts...Shady Acres...

This thread has chugged along for the past 5 days without uttering a new thought..... Like an old 78 record that has a skip......

Well thanks for saving the thread with this new thought! The new thought, ladies and gentlemen, is to criticize the lack of new ideas.

this is somewhat ironic of course, because the topic of discussion is the forum knife... a barlow that’s been done essentially the same way for what... 200 years in its current incarnation? Makes 5 days seem pretty palatable.

Ive heard there are ghosts lurking around porchenberg. Theyve never been seen but at a certain time of the year they take physical form. They claim to have proprietary rights since theyve been lurking about for longer than the required time. Not much is known after the fact. Some beleive they continue to lurk about. Others believe they retreat from whence they came, from the book of faces.

I'm all for a thread talking about a forum knife for this year and I'm all for GEC building us one and I know there should be discussion about said knife. I even realize some members don't like that GEC builds awesome knives and that somehow makes them feel bad. But if you don't like how things are going bow out and shut the hell up! I'm pretty sure most of us want a tank of a big ass barlow with quality handles!
Sometimes when I read this thread it's like listening to my wife after I've stayed up to late drinking beer in the garage. Lay off!
Sorry mods... Delete if need be

Maybe, but if you follow this thread, a while back it was suggested that we shouldn’t even discuss the brown color handles, because they had already been decided. Indeed, there were howls of protest at suggestions that maybe brown was only an option for our consideration and vote.

Then, now, suggesting not choosing red soup bone is being subject to the same complaint.

Everyone is free to offer views for and against those choices, and then be happy or not happy with the winning combo. Let’s just let that happen.
