The upcoming, anticipated, way-too-excited GEC 85's Thread!

My guess is the notices are only going out for what is guaranteed to be on hand, and that means what is 100% complete. I had a single blade antique yellow. Paid for, but nothing will ship until around March 7.

Texmex03 - my guess is that the polished stag will look just about like it does now.... the last pictures they posted said final polishing, which is means they will be polished a bit, but no major grinding. They looked almost complete.

GEC only started shipping today and we will only send notices on variants that are in a box on their way to us; so we have a good count. So far, only single flats.

I originally wanted to use any spare parts on the stag because I had a bunch of cull stag sitting around that I set aside during previous #77 runs. But there weren't enough for the spare parts that may be available so I sent some #1 stag as well. Ended up there was some stag that we just didn't want to buff off and so they will come both natural and polished. But I haven't seen the extent that the polished is actually polished yet. There will be no good count on these until they are finishing up.

Does anyone know the names of the 2 bone covers that have been completed? I reserved a #852 Spear EZ Open" ( "1Blade Flat Jig Ant Yellow Bone" ), I was invoiced and paid for a Great Eastern Cutlery Teardrop EZ Open Jack Northfield Antique Yellow Bone 852116. Which knife is this the jigged bone or the smooth bone , just confused, thank you.

Sounds like you paid for what you ordered. The other is smooth autumn gold bone which is not jigged. The only cover with yellow in the description is the jigged bone.

That's what I was hoping and I'll be happy either way, but, the confusion comes from the difference between the reservation cover description which says "jig" and the invoice makes no mention of jigged.. What is the smooth bone cover called, the one some have described as "rotten banana" is that the smooth autumn bone? Thanks for the response.

Cbr1000 has it right. Smooth autumn gold bone is the one that has been compared to rotten banana, although I don't think it looks much like rotten banana. The ones on their Facebook post actually look pretty nice!

Whether it said jigged or not, Antique Yellow Bone is the jigged version. There are 5 handle covers on this run:

Antique Yellow Bone (jigged)
Smooth Autumn Gold Bone
Natural Micarta
Bloodwood
Polished Stag - See knifeswappers last post for an explanation of this handle cover.

Thanks, I do not dislike the smooth autumn bone either, but, I do prefer the jigged. I would not be upset to have either of these end up in my mailbox. Thanks for the clarification. Now to wait on the Scandi Micarta to see what that looks like.

Oh My Goodness!

I knew I'd like this run, but I didn't know that the canvas micarta model would look so absolutely gorgeous!!!! I saw GEC's Instagram photo and was blown away. I'm glad I preordered a single and double blade micarta.

I just saw that GEC has pictures up of my new 85 Smooth Autumn Gold with Single Sabre Spear !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could not be much happier with how they are looking . Now the real wait begins !!!!!!

Sabre pics are up!

Edit:
Man, those bloodwoods look nice. I should have ordered one of them as well as that micarta...

It does seem that "scandi" became "sabre" on GEC's production schedule. No matter....REJOICE, we have #85s in 2016! :D

Interesting that the saber grind isn't as fat as the flat grind. Glad I went with the fat personally.

I think those sabre lines are going to look nice peeking through the EO notch!

Also, glad I went for a 2-blade yellow... this is one of the rare cases where I find the 2-blade model more visually appealing for some reason.
