The upcoming, anticipated, way-too-excited GEC 85's Thread!

These are looking great Mike! I knew I'd like the flat ground models, but I'm pleasantly surprised at how nice the saber grind came out. The jigged bone is my favorite with the RW a close second. :)

Can't wait to CE&CF one of these babies!:rolleyes::D

Lot of that going on around here recently...

I think my two favorites are the single blade jigged bone and the two blade micarta. All pretty, but I prefer the regular grind I think.

I'm waiting on pins and needles to see some in hand photos of the stag models (hopefully in my hand)!

Got mine in some sweet burnt stag.

It says Tuna Valley on the tang though, I think it's a factory error.

Check your inbox if you emailed mike a few weeks back to be informed about stag. I just got my email that I had a few minutes head start.

Paid for a 2b polished stag. Really excited to see how it will look.

The moderators have been a bit hot about the ordering process being brought up in this thread - just an fyi for anybody that replies... might want to keep it knife related like.. I can't wait to get my 2 blade polished stag!

Edited. Thanks

I assumed they would be singles but hey I can try a double.

I prefer double .. the match strike nick on the secondary makes it even better for me. If I recall correctly there was 4 variations - Single polish/unpolished, Double polish/unpolished.

WOW! That's a nice looking knife and the stag is exceptional. I think you must have gotten the pick of the litter!

Over half of the one's I've seen look like that or better. Some really-really good stag coming from them.. all the feathered buffalo horn was snatched up in a day (it was a lot less $).

I agree just not what I expected ... Don't even remember what I asked for :) His coping is awesome and I use it all the time on my 77. The match strike on it looks really nice.

The Tuna Valley knives are not the 85 pattern. They are 3-7/8" closed, the 85 is 3-5/8" closed. Further, the Tuna Valley knives are made by Queen.

I didn't look at the stamp and I assumed it was a GEC #85 since that's the topic. Sorry. Technically they are the same pattern but I understand your point. "85" is only relevant to GEC and that's the topic. Perhaps the Tuna Valley collectors can start a new topic... maybe called "Tuna helper" ;)

Haha that's a good nickname for them Jake. I'm curious as to the fit and finish on these ones. The stag from all the knives I saw looked really nice and the lined bolsters are a nice touch.
