The upcoming, anticipated, way-too-excited GEC 85's Thread!

Keeping up the excitement...

Question out of curiosity - Northfield Smooth Frontier Dyed Buffalo bone: Bubalus bubalis or Bison bison? I'm guessing since it's frontier bone, the American Bison over the Asian Water Buffalo.

Water buffalo with just a touch of dye to give it that creamy look. A very dense bone that does not take any dye in a significant fashion. Wish they wouldn’t have even listed the dye portion as that confuses.

Perfect thanks for the reply Mike. I'm a big fan of smooth bone that has that creamy ivory look, so this sounds great.

I’m wondering what the covers and shield on the oyster pearl acrylic is going to look like. Any ideas?

Taking a guess from name alone. I would guess there's no pearl, oyster, or any natural material because LVS or LG is not listed. I would guess it's pearl colored acrylic? Maybe silver/white swirl? Just a guess. Will be interesting to see as acrylic looks good in pictures. I'm not a fan myself, but I know many are.

That sounds like a good guess. The shield is what intrigues me even more than the cover. Acrylic patterns are hit and miss for me. We’ll see!

I hope they change their mind and throw in a 2 blade version. Single blade and EO notch just doesn't do it for me although I could still live with the latter if you just add it a pen secondary or something.

Here you are Žan  They did exist at one time...;)

Who’s getting excited for 85’s???

This thread needed a bump. We are seeing slow progress pics of 85’s on the GEC website.

I think we’ll see the regular run 85’s first and then Mike’s SFOs.

Gorgeous knives gentlemen.

I would have liked a two blade version this time around, but I’m extremely happy we are getting 85’s.

After these my knife fund will be fully depleted for a bit.

Dreaming of the rotten banana bone model! Haven’t had much luck on the small run knives of late though. Addendum - Broke the run of bad luck and scored a Beavertail 85 and a Springfield bone 99! Persistence pays off.

I had completely forgotten I landed a reservation for the oyster pearl acrylic. Appear to be a real looker.

Me too JustinR! Except somehow along the way they became salmon scales? Hoping we both get examples we like!

Looks like my Beavertail Thanks to Barry@gunstockjacks should be here Monday
