The upcoming, anticipated, way-too-excited GEC 85's Thread!

So, I started this thread a while back, and I want to thank everyone that has contributed to it: new 85's, older 85's, all have been just a treat to see! Hope everyone has enjoyed this thread, and the wonderful knives that have been brought to life!
A big, sincere thank you to Mike, as he is really a big reason that this pattern has (and will) continue to survive the test of time.
Brian.

Hello! I am definitely new to GEC, but have seen the #85 and am extremely hooked beyond belief. It sounds like somewhere you can place pre-orders????? Where is this?? I NEED one. :) THANK YOU!

Sorry but you are a little late !!! Just be patient and things that go around , come around. They will be back someday.

I am not sure as to the history of the blade shape, but I wanted to congratulate you on your score of a micarta single. I love the feel of the micarta.

For future reference, the exchange is probably your best bet for grabbing another, especially if you want a two blade micarta.
;)

Oh good thanks! I was just picking my nose with it! ;) lol.

Haha. Guess you were able to clip all the hair out also then lol. The 85 is a great blade shape for all around use. It's got that nice belly to it and enough of a point to not really be limited in it's daily use.

A Spear blade has a stronger point than a Clip. Both are similar to each other, but each has different strengths. A Balloon Spear like on the 85 is FAT, SASSY and confers BRAGGIN' RIGHTS to its owner!!:D I love mine.

Balloon Spear, awesome, thanks for that term. Its the first i've heard of it. I will go research now. :)

I was wondering to. Mebbe that shape has more to do with the EZ open notch, then actual cutting. For the EZ open to work right you need some exposed blade steel to grab - no? Just a thought....

Wonder what cover options will be available for the Tidioute, and when they'll be announced..

I'm hoping they offer one in ebony...seems like they usually do. The exotic covers are cool but, in the end, I think the ebony Tidiouettes end up looking the best (in my opinion of course). I've never had a #85 before or ez open notch so just trying to keep an open mind and see what I can grab. I'm not completely convinced I like the blade shape but it is growing on me.

I'm personally hoping for an ironwood/bocote wood or something of the sort, which I bet there will be. And some kind of jigged or smooth blue bone, which I think that's a pipedream. Just think how sweet would a 85 look in blue camel bone.
