Hey folks,

New guy here. I've been following along the usual suspects knife idea with great interest. I know this is a bit of a pipe dream, but how much would it hurt to toss in the idea of a socfk or a waved cqc7? I know they're not exactly production knives, but i had to at least throw the idea out there. Not that i won't get a full size commander, but a guy has to at least try, right?

Personally I need another full size Commander like a hole in my head (four EKI, one trainer, one prototype, and an ES1M). I would say that for the T.U.S.K, I think the Mini Commander is the only way to go because it seems that it was actually born on this forum. If we have to wait a few months, fine, I' ll wait.

I'm with Nyeti on this one. Mini Commander, made our way... but not right away

What the hell, I'm waiting at least 4 more years for my 2 ES1-M's... I can hold out until summer for the Suspects tricked out mini! ^_^

I don't need a third full size commander either. The SOCFK sounds great in either real satin or black-t. Even the waved 7 would be great. Just don't make it an overproduced knife that I see in every knife shop (the commander or regular 7). If it absolutely has to be a commander, make the scales green. Plain edge goes without saying.

John, you have more mail.

Personally, I would be willing to wait for the Mini-Commander to be 'born' and we get that one, if it takes till June, so be it. How long have we all waited to build our collections anyway ? 5 months is not much time at all.

Having said that, if the overall opinion is that we get the full size Commander, then I'm still in for one !

I say that we wait for the mini-commander with the bolsters. What is six months wait to get the knife that we all REALLY want as the first forum knife?

If we all talk nicely (dirty?) to Ernie/Derek, maybe the Forum Knife could be the first production run of the mini-Commander - this would give it double kudos.

Regards,

Ed

PS - I would like serial number #77 if nobody else has an objection - I seem to have a number of production Emersons with this number and it would be a shame not to have a set.

I agree with whatever Nyeti says! After that spanking he gave the last dissenter, I'm afraid he'll unleash FRANKENSTEIN on me!

mini is my vote...what is the rush. It will be that much more appreciated when it arrives.

The TUSK should be somewhat unique and be designed by the "Usual Suspects" i.e. us. The original specifications were and are very acceptable. Waiting 6 months to a year is not a problem. I do not need just another Emerson with a logo on it if that is its only unique feature. I am looking for something unique and what we all want. I believe there are two seperate threads going here. One is the TUSK per original design and the other is the Mini-Commander with Usual Supects on the blade. There are two options, vote for what project we all want or proceed with two projects.

I was originally leaning toward the full-sized Commander, but I think waiting for a mini would be worth it. As for blade markings, may I suggest we stray away from "TUSK" and focus on "Usual Suspect" instead? EKI Logo, 2001, USUAL SUSPECT #xxx.

I, too, am willing to wait. If we're gonna do it, let's make it a special thing! A full size Commander is just that - there are hundreds if not thousands out there (and even if John has most of 'em, it's still a LOT of market saturation)

So, the first run mini could be "our" knife. Everything after that is second/third/fourth/etc. generation. We'd have the FIRST generation of a new Emerson design, with the family name on the blade. How cool is that! So, again, I say we wait. Like most of you custom knutts said - what's a few months when you've been waiting years?

P.S: Any hope to getting a zero ground blade?? Pretty please?? With sugar on top? I'll wash Ernie's car for him.

I not picky about which base model, but someone should read through these threads and summarize this into a vote or chat topic, with all the options clear. Then a simple vote would decide. ANY VOLUNTEERS TO SORT OUT THE CHOICES? Start with a vote for base model, then scales, finish, marking, etc, under a new topic.
On a details level, I have 2 ideas to keep in mind. How about a special clip logo so we can identify each other at knife shows and on the street. That would be a cool way to identify another suspect. Also, put a drawing of the knife for that year on the suspect tee shirt. M2C.

I agree. We should probably vote on one knife. After all, Ernie still has a business to run. If we try and tie him up with multiple projects, we're less likely to get a really good end result. Just focus on one and aim high is my suggestion. My vote would be for a mini commander with bolsters. The wait would definitely be worth it. If on the other hand, the decision is made to do something NOW, i would say at least try get something not all that common, like a socfk or waved cqc7. Make it special after all. By the way, i did like the concept of a usual suspects logo on the clip. Any artists out there?

I think that Usual Suspects as a blade marking is cool, rather than TUSK (or variations).

Ed

I agree with what seems to be the consensus. That is to wait for the mini-commander as the idea for it seems to have originated here.
