The "Whatever" Thread

you might want to check out G Fred Asbell -- he makes some pretty good looking wool items at reasonable prices.

They are a lot cheaper but I like enjoy making things myself I will keep them in mind if I fail miserably. Also the blanket is on of the US army 100% wool that I got for free so it will cost me my time and less than $10.

nice!
if you need any antler buttons, let me know - I probably have a tine I can slice up and drill

Very cool project. Do you go out into the mountains around Vegas?
Not half as often as I would like to. I go for day hikes but my goal for this winter is a couple of overnights. I will probably go to the mountains next to my house one night to test out the double poncho shelter idea. I know the army used to use a poncho and liner combo for shelters.

Have you used any of their wool products? I've been wanting to try a pullover but was unsure how they fit. Everything I've read about them has been good and they are made in the USA.

That is very interesting. Fantastic prices, too. I don't have any wool clothing, so that may be a good place to start. Thanks.

those prices are killer. I'm going to order one of those pathfinder models they just released. thanks for the info

Checked out their wool as well and they really do have some killer prices. If anyone orders or has in the past post a review please!

A few picture of the new poncho. I have everything done but adding the front sectional pocket and adding the grommets around the outside edge. I'm pretty damn proud of myself right now.

Must EDC for me is a flashlight and knife.

The best flashlight IMHO is the Surefire Titan. With just a single AAA battery it does 300 lumens. Then you have a small SAK and you are ready for most all tasks.

Here is my homemade pouch for my front tiny jean pocket. Than I can carry a bigger fixed blade or my Spyderco SAGE 2

I haven't -- yet.
but I've seen a lot of positive comments/reviews on the bushcraft forum.
I personally like the idea of a zip-front instead of a pull-over.

Very quick yet quality work, nice going

yay, a new flashlight to try out!

How is the tint on the Titan. My EDC flashlight is an HDS Rotary, plus a G2Z with a Malkoff Drop-in in my bag.

Mine has a very slight greenish tint on low, but medium and high are nice and white.
