The "Whatever" Thread

It's time to start looking for a different place to market my knives. I've already tried BCUSA and the USN, with no success. Not sure where else to try.

This is through facebook so you may not be interested.
You could try posting finished knives on a local 'swap shop' on facebook.

My dad and his wife buy stuff for sale from local people all in the 'swap shop' group.
I already went to facebook and searched 'Illinois Swap Shop' and it seems southern IL has a decent size group.

Might catch some sales that way...

Just got back from a week in the Outer Banks, NC and Williamsburg, VA. Beautiful weather, great food and got to visit some family too. An awesome trip!

Love the OBX in October, we were down the week of Columbus Day. Did you have time for any fishing?

No fishing this trip, mostly eating and drinking! :)

Twenty years since my last OBX visit. Lots of changes, but still a wonderful spot in the world.

We go to relax on the beach, fish, and enjoy the local restaurants. I've been going for around 20 years and have not considered going to VA Beach or Myrtle Beach since my first trip to the OBX. A lot has changed but it's still a great place especially for a family. We like staying in Kitty Hawk which seems to have changed the least.

We stayed in Kitty Hawk and then down in Ocracoke. Have you been to Awful Arthur's? Best grilled tuna that I've ever had. Oysters were coming from the James River due to the temporary state ban, but were awesome as well.

There are a few local places that are "must eats" when we're there and Awful Arthur's is one. Goombay's is my favorite restaurant. I had a blackened swordfish over crawfish jambalaya that was unbelievable last trip.

Can you belive this (expletive deleted).

That's a bunch of BS! Where is that posted?

It was on the door of a credit union in downtown Evanston.

What I find amazing about this is that I when I was in grammar school I carried an SAK with at least a 2.5" blade. I have always carried a knife since.

Technically that's not a legal sign, the correct one has a Beretta on it. When I was in high school (1967 - 1971) we had a gun club. You could take your shotgun to school every Friday, put it in your locker, then after school we would go to the trap club to shoot.

Wow, how times have changed!
Now, if highschoolers even have guns in their vehicle they are automatically expelled for the year.

My wife teaches 7th grade english

I remember carrying a pocket knife to school every day. We could get permission off for the first day of deer season with parent's signature.

Where I went to school, the first day of firearm season was a board holiday. No school, district wide.:D

But that was in a more "rural" area.

Awesome. Now he just needs a "Concealed Carry Welcome" sign.
That's psychological warfare at its finest.

So with the winter months coming up I've decided to make a hooded wool poncho liner. I would like to style it after Lester River Bushcraft's boreal shirt.
Basically the same hood and front pouch just instead of armholes I will just put grommets down both sides like a poncho.
LesterRiverBushcraftBorealShirtFrontFull.jpg

It will be worn as an extra layer underneath my German milsurp poncho. That way I can use the German poncho as a basic overhead shelter and the wool one can be used like a blanket. If it turns out worth a damn I will probably post the build in outdoor gear and if it fails miserably I will just go back and edit all this post out.:D:thumbup: I know it's not really JK related but most of you guys seem to enjoy the outdoors and most of you are in colder climates than me.
