The "Whatever" Thread

Some good deals there! Everyone should have an EO1 and Bluegill at those prices.

About a week or so back I found that a bird had built a nest on top of a tool box that sits under my carport. There was a mama bird and 4 eggs in the nest. My wife heard chirping today and two of the eggs have hatched. There is one egg in front of the babies and another behind them.

Here is a link to my Instagram page where there is a very short video. https://www.instagram.com/rgrizzleleather/

Here is a photo. You can see a brake fluid bottle in the photo that the nest is built against. I was afraid to move it because I may disturb the nest. Hopefully the other eggs will hatch soon.

Cool! And very cool of you and your wife to keep them safe and let them grow up!

Thanks for the pic and vid.

If I only had a way to capture all the thoughts induced into my brain by a night sky full of stars and a bright moon, a campfire, and several drinks of good bourbon.....hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Not quite as eloquent as fishiker's getaway, but sitting in a divey coast motel with family, putting the Kephart to work making making pressure cooker seafood stew, and sipping from a growler of porter from the local brewery isn't too bad, either...

A divey coast motel, seafood, a JK, and a microbrew sounds like my kind of night! Google the Pines Campground in Craig Co. VA and you will see how very not eloquent my weekend is. The highlight of the day yesterday was my parents visiting and all of us picking wild berries.

Going to Cedar Lake Indiana today to visit with Angie and her family. Angie is diabetic, and a few months back she was diagnosed with depression. She does not like to drive or ride in cars, so we go there to see her, and hopefully cheer her up a bit.

My baby boy, Thomas Ira is 2½ years old and has developed quite the fascination with throwing rocks. We spent several hours yesterday target practicing at the range I rigged up using paracord, fishing line, and empty beverage cans. To some I'm sure that sounds inappropriate and boring but it was a blast for the two of us. He's still trying to decide if he's a lefty like his mother or normal like me...sorta.

Boring and Inappropriate ? :p

No Way! That's awesome. I have a 3 1/2 year old and he is set on learning how to shoot 'real guns' already.
We bought him a little cap rifle awhile back and doesn't like it because no bullets come out.

His birthday is in January and im debating on whether 4 years old is too young for a Red Rider.

I just looked it up, and I think you win - ambience is everything, ha ha (I posted before the neighbors next door got too rowdy, drawback of CHEAP motels!). I miss that kind of country vs. the landscape out here, but I'll bet there's plenty of poison ivy...

Overall it is really hard to beat family, good food, and an opportunity to play with knives.

Edited to add, also the opportunity to throw rocks! My shoulder hurts, but man my 5 year old had a great time, we'll need to explore firing range ideas.

Just realized something today.
We have not been on a vacation in over 5 years!
I have not been away from my home for more than 10 hours since last October!
Maybe it's time to make some changes!

Sounds to me like you deserve a vacation!

Hopefully after next January.
Being self employed is double edged, I can take off whenever I want, but I need to be able to afford to!

The heat is miserable! I stopped work early today and went and got my hair shaved off. Will probably stop early tomorrow too.

my boss is so awesome she encouraged me to work extra hours early in the week so i could take the afternoon off and let the dogs in out of the heat yesterday and today without using any leave.
when I got home today I only spent 45 minutes pulling weeds and loading scaffolding in the truck before nausea set in.

YES! The heat today was oppressive! Truly horrible hot day today. I could not imagine being in the shop today!

The heat outdoors was bad yesterday unfortunately my job can be even more so. We had an unscheduled outage on a precipitator that was so hot it felt good to step outside into the 90° sunshine.
