The "Whatever" Thread

Great to hear you are headed home! Is there someone there to help if you need it?
Thanks John, it'll be good to get back home.
And yes, my room mate for the past 9 years will be my caregiver.
She's been a CNA before so is qualified and the state will pay her for helping.
Much better than hiring a stranger.

The hiking trip was a success.

We even found a nice clear pool to wade around in.

Shoot, I wish I was on vacation.

This was our first week back at school for the family. The wife is a 7th grade English teacher, the 10 year old started 5th grade, and the 3 year old is back at day care. We couldn't afford to put the baby in day care to, so he switches between grand parents during the week.

Im sort of glad everybody is back in the working world. Now my electricity bill will be cut in half since no one is home all day! :D

I would post more but don't see a whole lot of others posting. What have you two been up to? For me it's just been work and the wife's birthday also some serious talk about going back to school which makes me nervous as I am 25 and completely debt free except for the house and car. Everyone keeps telling me that's just how it will be, being in debt constantly.

I`ve been waiting for others to post, I feel stupid starting new threads myself. Be smart, go back to school, I wish I would have gone to college.

I have a feeling others are doing the exact same with posting.
Like I said debt freaks me out. I know I just have to get over it. My two ideals fields would be emergency management which would require moving for work or some variation of wildlife management which there are quite a few jobs for in the Vegas area. I'm going to set up a meeting with a student advisor to get some more details.

To me that sounds like a dream job! Being outdoors all day...

I went to our community college for Automation & Controls, which is basically an industrial electrician/gauge reader. I had hoped to get a job installing solar panels, but the industry isn't here in Louisiana yet.
Matter of fact, Louisiana is so broke right now that the state cant even pay back the tax breaks for people who have gotten solar panels.

Pretty sure LA's state motto is: Louisiana, Keepin' It Corrupt

I've been super busy at work, but trying to make something of the evenings with a lift or run. We usually get out for a paddle one or both days of the weekend. It's been a nice Summer so far, but I'm starting to look forward to cooler temps and campfires. We also have a Fall trip planned to hike up Mt. Katahdin in Maine to look forward to. In the short term, we have our three youngest grandkids spending a long weekend with us. Love them GK's! :)

Would Mt. Kathadin happen to have water and a lot of burch trees by any chance?

Have fun, Jeff! My granddaughters are heading to Wisconsin Dells for the weekend - I might get to go play disc golf with my son and grandson.

This will be our first time to the area, so not quite sure about the surroundings. The topo shows several small ponds in Baxter State Park that surround Mt. Katahdin. Should be spectacular in the Fall! I'll let you know! :)

I asked because I recently bought some chaga fungus and it was listed as katahadin chaga, figured it had to be related.
