The "Whatever" Thread

Connie is spending the night watching the girls at Becky`s house, so I`ve got a bottle of Zing Zang and a bottle of vodka, time to forget all the BS going on.

Right now I have enough orders to cover me until mid October. If no new orders start coming in I will stop taking orders on October 15th.

I hope things turn around. Did you have any luck getting a bottle opener on the Broken Rogue Friction Folder?

Jack has been all work and no play for a little too long. Spent the weekend getting a new dishwasher installed and disposing of the old one. Then I donated our old walmart special dining room table after disassembling it and picked up our new to us 7 foot by 3 foot oak table with chairs and bench, thing looks like it belongs in a mead hall somewhere (now where did I put my flagon of ale). Got the tree trimmed, cacti pruned, red grass out front cut down, bugs and weeds sprayed. Then painted the upstairs hallway and replaced a piece of damaged trim in the living room. I think I've earned a well deserved hike followed by a few hundred rounds out of each gun. Hows has everyone else been lately?

You have been working way to hard, take a break! I'm taking an advanced 300 round pistol class in two weeks. Shooting on the move and from cover. Going to use my Glock 17 and the holster I got from Ryan Grizzle, and an old double mag pouch I have on hand.
I'm starting job orientation and safely training at night Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week, then will start the job next Friday.

You have me watering at the mouth mentioning the class. I'm trying to find some pistol courses but there are only two kinds I've found so far here, Basic bare bones classes and the $500 for four hours private instruction. I get out in the desert four or five times a year and usually shoot around 200-300 rounds per gun and other than that it's just my twice yearly competency test for work. I found a coworker who is a gun nut too so we are trying to work out a day to go. There are some of the Revere's Riders courses that I tried to take last year but they aren't until February and March.
I must of missed something, what's the new job?

I had to take a job in a large warehouse (Dollar Tree). I will be working 6pm - 6am Friday through Sunday.

Back in June, I started the planning and prep for my first elk hunt in many years. Picked up a new to me used bow. Spent the necessary time at the range. Scouted the area. Picked up the final supplies for 4 days in the woods. Three JK knives sharpened and packed. 2 days before departure, my wife and two young girls start not feeling well. The evening before my 5am departure, both daughters have deep chest coughs. By 10pm, my youngest has a fever of 102. By 2:30 am, I've cleaned up and washed the sheets after 3 bouts of vomit. We'll see what tomorrow brings but it doesn't look like I'll be walking in the mountains with bow in hand.

Sorry to hear about the missed hunt. Hope the wife and kids start feeling better soon.

Ah man, what luck !?

At least your there to help the kiddos and the wife. Think about being on the mountain knowing your family is all sick. Wouldn't make for a very enjoyable experience.

This reminds me of something that happened to me. My first wife and I were expecting our baby the second week of December. A few weeks earlier was deer season and I was going to go with my two neighbors, leaving on Wednesday night. On Wednesday morning at 1am my wife went into labor (more than 2 weeks early). I can only imagine what would have happened if it was a day later, I doubt I would ever have been forgiven! You have to remember, that was in the days before cell phones, there would have been no way to get ahold of me.

John,

That's a great 'keep it in perspective' story. Thanks!

Hunting before cell phones, GPS, digital cameras. How did we survive???😀😀

Kids are sounding better this evening. If they sleep through the night I may get to head out in the am. The latest forecast calls for light rain/snow showers Saturday night. Should make for an interesting hunt.
