The "Whatever" Thread

Last year it rained every time we camped except for one weekend. This year has been much better so far. Over the past few weeks we've camped 10 nights with no more than a light shower. The forecast was rain and thunderstorms many days. We saw lightning and heard thunder but were fortunate to have the storms pass by. A camping trip with no rain or phone service is close to perfect.

The heat here is kicking my ass! It’s been in the 70’s by 7am, and high 80’s to mid 90’s by noon. Going to be close to 100 Friday and Saturday.

yeah - today was our "cool day" - it was only 90 when I got home and started mowing.
Wednesday and Friday I'm probably leaving work by noon so I can come home and let the dogs in.
There's too much going on at work that requires my presence on Thursday to bail too early that day -- but I'm hoping the boss relents anyway.

Well I got one of those Instagram accounts to post leather Work and random people just start following you. One was a knife maker not John it was all wierd cheap Damascus. I figured alright he bends leather for his work cool. Then all the sudden I have hundreds of posts of all these Pakistani made blades all trying to be sold. And yes I found John he's my friend on Instagram no big deal.

Time for some more pics.
Bear with me, it's been a few months so I've got a lot to share.
Last falls rainbow fell super close to the property, but landed on gov. property so I couldn't get to the pot o' gold.:(

I was sitting on the bluffs overlooking the river and this bat landed on the cedar tree that juts out right in front of me.

Middle of the day and a bat is flying around. Weird but cool imo.
Luckily I managed to get a couple of pics in flight.

A little while later and this guy came swooping down from the trees to my right and landed in the shallows right down in front of me.
He cooled his heels for a bit then boogied on up the river.

It turns out there are fish in the pond.
I can't tell what this one is but I was told there were Crappie, Bass and Bluegills planted in it many moons ago.

Continuing on....

This little guy was brought to my front steps by my niece's cat.
She likes to show me her catch of mice, snakes and lizards.
I just throw 'em back into the thickets.

Back out in the woods this spring I found this Towhee nest with two eggs.

A couple of weeks later there were four.

I was hoping to see the hatchlings, but waited too long to go out again and found the nest empty.:(

Back on the bluffs I spotted mama and kids as they came out to play.
It was nice to watch the fawns run around kicking up their heels while mom fueled up.

Hey Myke, great pictures as usual, and good to see you around I was getting a little worried there!
That is one cool cat that brings in snakes and lizards. I have not seen any alligator lizards for a long time - good to see they're still around, too!

Very nice photos as usual mykel m! Just wanted to jump in here, to thank John for the last knife he sent me a few weeks back! It was beautifully done as usual! John, I also decided to make the order on the Hudson Bay Knife we talked about! I will PM that order to you as soon as I finish this! Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but, I lost my Honey Bear about five weeks ago! It really broke my heart, I loved her so much! So now, I have been having good days and bad days! I don't think I'll ever get over her! I want to get another one but, Yvonne won't let me! Anyway, how's everyone here? Anything going on with anyone, anybody doing anything? Can you believe this heat, it has been hot as hell down here! I have not left the house except to go see the doctor I guess that is about it for now! All you guy's take care, and stay cool!
