The "Whatever" Thread

Happy Father's Day!

That knife was the first stainless steel knife John heat treated.
I don't remember the details of what steel etc, but it is in the collection so there it is.

I will post more here every few days so John can reminisce with us about each design.

Pocket Kephart and Nessmuk, Those were fun to grind, they were so small I could only use one hand to hold them.
I had three of them, gave one to a friend who really liked them.
We were calling them Keebler knives I remember.
As always, you did a great job on them when some goofball asked if you could make them.

What stainless steel did you use when you were doing them, and do you remember how many and what models you made?
I remember a few going out from your shop.

And no-serif K stamp, and you re-created your "bottom stamp" marking.
Included was one of your kydex sheaths.

The garolite, the way you finished it, is really like old ebony.

I was hoping you could expand a bit on these, why did you decide to make this pattern, was there any interesting stuff you had to do or people you were working with etc.

I know, I can't recall even buying some of these so I get the old memory thing 😂

The first product I bought from you was a leather sheathed Keychain Companion as a gift for a friend.

I thought a small fixed blade might be popular as an option to carrying a folding knife, even though these small ones were harder to grind than a regular knife, they were ground only using one hand!

You were ahead of the game. Over the years I have seen quite a bit of a following of small fixed blades for edc.

I like a good folder and have a selection that includes a few autos. I'm also a fan of a fixed blade for EDC, on my belt or in a pocket. I'll often carry a slip joint or SAK along with the fixed blade. If I'm in the woods, I'll always have a fixed blade. My EDC is probably 50/50 between fixed and folder.
