The "Whatever" Thread

Got a guy coming to look at my HT furnace Monday morning, hopefully he buys it. Monday afternoon we meet with Connie’s surgeon to get results from the pathology report, then Friday we meet with my vascular surgeon to see what the plan is for surgery, and when.
Looks like it’s definitely over, unless I start getting good results from my checkups, then if I go crazy, and want to make something, I still have my coal forge to do O1 like the old days when I started making knives. If not, I have a legacy of all my knives that are out there being used like they were meant to be.

My youngest son made the school basketball team. He was working hard but I was overly optimistic. He's an average size 6th grader and the team is made up of 6th thru 8th grades.
I met the coach yesterday and was very impressed with him. He talked about it being a part of school but academics came first. He said he wasn't worried about the win loss record of the team his goal was to help each player grow to be the best they can be.

Sounds like a good coach! Congratulations to your son on making the team, it doesn’t seem like that long ago you were telling us when he was born, time really flies!

It's always so ruff on you when you loose a dog. Tell the young lady the simplejack family is still mourning baby duke but it gets better.

Wife ordered him a new ern, they gave me my fu@$ing dog in a plastic bag inside of a pumpkin spice something tin and the wife couldn't stand it anymore. I'm having my friend's dad take a piece of oak and laser his portrait on it. We keep him in the china hutch in the living room. That will be the background behind the ern, collar, plaster paw prints and the other knick knacks we have of his.

I did my morning ritual this morning like I do every day. I got back from my morning workout, started my coffee. Went and got in uniform, picked out my watch opened the JK chest and began to paw around. I ended up settling on a little JK pocket cleaver from a run of 3 John did in 2017 I believe. Then I began to admire all of those little beauties. And then it dawned on me, I never got a large jk and I yelled the f word. My sons came out asking me what was wrong. I explained I never got a JK hatchet or a Hudson Bay. My 16yo said no I've seen you with a few hatchets and a rather large jks. I told him those I sheathed for other jk family members. Always telling myself if get one later morale of the story is life is short have multiple jobs in your line up

I was also talking to mtblair a few years ago about getting this first gen JK with yellow g10 scales and we all know the rarity of a g10 handled jk. Haven't heard from him on a few years I hope he's doing good. I see most of you are still running around on here so that's a plus

I also still mainly have jks, I have a Dave Beck tracker set, an Ontario bolt knife AND A CHEST FULL OF JK GOODNESS THAT I CHERISH DEARLY. I can't speak for every one but I am a little sad now that I know the furnace is gone. And I just don't really see myself placing another order with another maker. Am I the only one that feels this way? Like the chase of the perfect knife Is complete and I have it!

Sidenote not sure if I'm gonna stay in the army and be a sergeant major or just call it. 21 years in the books so far. But with all the surgeries and how much I've beat up my body it's getting a lot harder to beat these 25 year olds that are probably on some performance enhancement drugs. With the L series of the spine fused the doctors are telling me I shouldn't jump out of planes anymore or do any boxing. If I can't be a paratrooper anymore I just don't really see the point in staying in the infantry or the army.

Over the last four years we have lost three of the best companions I’ve ever had, Casey,Stella, and Maggie. They will always be in my heart and memories.
Thanks for sharing your JK memories, it means a lot to me.
