The Zero Tolerance 0777 has arrived!

Reeek, that's awesome bro. Could you take a pic comparing to a few knives? (Tilt and blur if you have one :D) Can't WAIT for mine to come (whenever it does!)

It sure looks pretty, does anyone else think that the clip appears a little "chunky" looking though? I thought something sleeker might suit it better.

I prefer the previous clip, but understand why the change was made. That said, it doesn't appear all that chunk to me. Might just be perspective.

I was at work for those but I will take some tomorrow and post them :)

The clip works well - it's springy with enough grip to keep the knife in place. This knife is as large as a typical 6 - 8 ounce knife but barely weighs over 4 ounces so it doesn't take much to keep her secure.

Well I paid the legitmate street price and I couldn't be happeir with the outcome.

I know this is more expensive than a Tilt as far as legitimate street price goes but this is a better product overall IMHO too.

It has a macabre aura of almost being too pretty but coming off as a very tough, apt folder at the same time. Like lots of custom knives out there I suppose . . . On mine, the KVT pivot flies out more like a 056x model than a Tilt. Defeat the detent and the blade and KVT do the rest of the work while locking up like a vault. The blade seems to have more kinetic energy from the blade weight than the Tilt I think. And no bead blast or polished CF! :)

This is a hell of a knife even if you may not like how it looks. 4.2 ounces and a larger, superbly functioning folder that operates one handed like a charm. What's not to like?

And I will make this promise, if I decide to let her go for any reason, I will do it before she is used or carried and I will sell her for what I paid . . . And I will make sure it goes to a good standing BF brother or sister too ;)

and it didn't take long for opportunistic "members" to jack the price up and flip them. nice knife.

Thanks again, everyone! And may I say, "Wow!" Thats alot of comments in a short time! I will attempt to address a few posts, please poke me with a stick if I miss anything!

YOU ARE GOING TO USE IT!?

Yes, sir! Just like my toys when I was a kid, I've never been good at keeping anything in the package. :) Honestly, other than my 0400 (and the 0302 and 0200 that I used to own), this is my least expensive knife. My collection isn't as large as most, but the quality is high, with most being one of a kind knives (you can check my youtube channel to see most of them if you like :) ). I love the ZTs though, because they offer the most knife for the buck out of any production/custom/customized knives that I know of! I once walked into Smokey Mountain Knife works and the guys behind the counter lost their minds to find out that I was carrying an Emerson HMMV-K #004, lol.

I do use my knives, but I carry a Victorinox Spirit and a PocketToolX Pirhana, so I can use the right tool for the job. My knives are never abused and normally a sharpening and bead blast (for Ti bolsters) can bring them back to like new condition. I will say that I would never pry with a normal knife, but espcially so with this knife. I would hate to snap the beautiful Carbon Fiber frame.

Good on you! As rare and expensive as the 0777 is, there are much more expensive and rarer knives that people do use. I think people equate "using" with "bashing the knife against a tree". I don't see how it couldn't handle normal EDC work without ruining its collectability.

Perfectly worded, sir!

Awesome video, OP.

Man, that's awesome. Honestly, I don't know if I could use a knife that pretty or that expensive if I were in your shoes. The folks who made this sure made it nice to look at, but I'm sure they didn't make it ONLY to be looked at.

My thanks to you! And yes, it would seem a shame to never let a blade as beautiful as this cut something. :)

My collecting/hoarding gets in the way of my enjoyment sometimes. I would use a custom knife before I used a limited run production knife, because I find them more collectible. For example I plan on buying a Todd Begg Bodega, I will carry that thing with me every where I go. The Bodega cost around $950. However I would stash the $600 (MSRP) 0777 in my collection and never take it outside my house.

Hmmm... That is an interesting thought! I understand what you mean, but it is any intriguing thing to think about. :)

I always thought this blade would look sharp with a spyderhole. Although I don't have one and probably won't get one, I think they should have included studs. Doesn't matter because most will never use it which is a shame.

I think that the position and depth of the fuller lends itself nicely to opening the blade with your thumb, however it flips so well that I'm not sure that I would want to open it any other way!

There is one for sale in the forum for $800. $800 for a Kershaw? Wow, more than a Hinderer. Never thought I'd see the day.

:( I count myself lucky to have found an honest dealer who charged an honest rate. :)

The prices retailers are asking are outrageous. I think I've lost all respect for Kershaws's line of ZT factory produced and way over priced knives. These prices are super silly sick.

I find your words lacking for logic, sir. Surely this has little to do with Kai/Kershaw/Zero Tolerance. All dealers pay the same rate (somewhere under MAPP) and the dishonest ones price gouge. There is little sense in holding the facts of a free market against the manufacturer.

Now I know how those hinderer and spyderco southard tire kickers feel. I really like the knife, I really want the knife, but there is no way I'm paying more than $600 for it. For $950 I can get a Todd Begg Bodega for goodness sake.

It is what it is though, when supply doesn't meet the high demands... where in this case the supply is set at a certain number you could expect the prices to be massively inflated.

Due to some poorly chosen words on the part of Mr. Hinderer, his production knives no longer command what they once did, and as Spyderco rushes to meet demand with production, the secondary market prices for the Southard should continue to fall. The 0777, may fall as more get into the hands of those who are buying them for the sole intent of reselling for profit and the secondary market has to compete with itself, however due to the knife's limited nature, once the "flippers" dry up, the future (in a few years) secondary prices for the knives are likely to be higher than ever. Pure speculation, of course.

Mine came. Thanks, Dave!

She is absolutely superb and 100% custom quality with regard to build quality, function, beauty (in the eye of the beholder) and care of assembly and adjustment prior so shipping and the pivot action probably can't be any better than this in the real world. The lockbar releases SUPER smoothly and makes this knife a true one handed folder. Lockup is solid and with zero blade movement in any direction. This is a true world class knife. Here she is:

Thank you for the great pictures, sir!!! And many congrats on the beautiful knife!

It sure looks pretty, does anyone else think that the clip appears a little "chunky" looking though? I thought something sleeker might suit it better.

Truth be told, I would have preferred that the original clip or a similarly contoured clip had been included. As it is, this clip can be uncomfortable in the palm. I could always have a the stock clip contoured however... Due to my distaste for "deep carry" clips, maybe I should look into having a custom clip made instead...

I prefer the previous clip, but understand why the change was made. That said, it doesn't appear all that chunk to me. Might just be perspective.

Apperance wise, it's a fine clip. Just a bit uncomfortable. :)

Cant wait until I get mine, although there are a few changes I wish they hadn't made.

Was anything changed besides the steel and the clip? I'm presonally pretty happy with the Vanax 35 that they went with. :)

Great review of the knife! I have to agree, the finish that they went with for the CF is perfect. :)

I think that was all of the questions, to every one else, I appreciate the kind words!

So far I've noticed and heard of five subtle changes to the 0777:

1. The stainless steel hardened lockbar insert is different, its not simply rectangular in shape.

2. There is no swedge grind, unless I just can't see it in the pics.

3. The pocket clip, going from machined like the lockbar to a little flatter with zt-0777 on it.

4. On the proto, the blade tang and the part of the blade the kvt bearings ride on was damascus, now its the Vanax 35.

5. The stop pin is now more visible than the proto.(thanks espnazi for the clarification)

Hopefully I didn't miss anything.

Also stop pin was hidden before and now it's exposed. I believe they changed the lock bar insert because from what I could gather in prototype pics the ball detent was on the steel insert which might have cause some issues when adjusting or replacing the insert, now it's on the actual titanium part.
