They are trying to ban pocket knives in Hawaii

Great news story. That seems to answer any questions about the proposal. Pocket knives are legal and will stay that way.

Good job, Ken! It's good that the issue received such good coverage.

"In 22 years I've introduced many many bills by request," says Ihara. "By request in the capitol essentially signals that we don't agree with the content."

"Are they obligated to do that? So why would take the time to propose something like this knowing that it's not a very good idea," says Onion.

Ihara says it's been his policy to provide a voice for his constituents and did so again.

What worms these politicians are :grumpy:

So if one of his constituents wants to ban breakfast burritos he'll introduce the legislation. Baloney.

+1
I think there's some obvious gaps in his administration, if he feels the need to put forth his constituents suggestions, no matter how ridiculous they are.

Way to go Mr. Onion!

I can see where the legislator who introduced the bill is coming from with providing a voice for his constituents, however, he should have denied that person his bill and told him/her how blatantly unconstitutional and impractical it is or at least not completely introduced the bill just presented the idea. I am very glad to see that he does not even support it.

Thanks guys! 45 minutes of interview and they cut it into a 1 minute segment .The car thing was part of a much longer thought which got edited out and doesn't make much sense by it's self. I'm grateful it didn't get more scrambled in the editing room.
Thanks for all the calls and letters ! I was told there were hundreds of both.

If there were more people like you in the world, we might have half a chance to be lawfully allowed to carry a pocket knife over here too!

Well done Mr Onion!!

Well said Ken.

Wish we could get a hold of that whole interview , I would find a place to host it if you do.

Thanks for all you do for the industry.

A very big thank you to Ken Onion.

I feel relieved, yet at the same time see that we have to remain vigilant against this kind of legislation.

I started reading this thread about 5 minutes before posting this. *phew* This thread was a rollercoaster ride for me. But at least it seems to have a happy ending.

Ken! Awesome man. Thanks from someone across the Koolau's from you. East Honolulu. The proposal seemed ridiculous, but I've seen crazy things happen that surprised me before.
