Id love to go to Blade as well... But pictures of the crowds kind of turned me off... Im not fighting my way through a bunch of people to look at ANY knife....

Hell im scared ill end up fighting my way back outside with that knife.

Then you got the re-sellers buying multiples of everything... You know how pissed id be if i made my way thru 100 people and the guy in front of me buys the last 10 of the knife i saved up for and was trying to buy because he wants to turn a profit? I understand people want to make money, but keeping my mouth closed would hardly be an option.

Man its just not worth it... Some people already think im an a$$hole, after that everyone would KNOW how true it is.

Well unless i smoked a HUGE lefty before hand...... And if i ever make it to blade, you can go ahead and assume thats the case.

You know out of all the different events and shows and things i have read about here in the forums the only one i think i would do OK at is the Becker gatherings... And thats because its outdoors, not too large of crowd, and i feel like i could actually fit in with a bunch of you guys.... Just a bunch of hillbillies, hippies, and degenerates drinking and playing with knives, My kind of people. :D

it's a 999 miles drive for me to get to E's, and then hours more to hotlanta... long drive. done that 4 times solo, once without sleep. brrrrr. shakes :D

flying is expensive. there's almost always a connection, and $$$

i MIGHT be quitting the current job (declining to accept an extension) for something FAR more interesting, and around the same time as Blade...

plus my assigned roommate would snore ;)

and i dunno. i'm feeling rushed and burned out and ...
Yeah, add another 400 miles onto the drive to E's house, then 250 miles to Blade. It's too much of a drive to do from across the country in a day. Even if I ran at 100 the whole time it would take me 15 hours and there is no way I can average 10 miles an hour faster than Alex Roy did on his record breaking run across the country in 2006.

Check out the NE Gathering first. But yeah, I don't mind the crowds when I can get something out of it, namely the blades. I went to the Chicago Auto Show every year for almost 25 years. It's only the last few years I haven't gotten to go every year. But of the last 8 years I made it 5 times.

To be honest I'd be more interested in hanging out with the Becker, Ka-Bar, and Esee guys.

it's not really an issue

Hell im scared ill end up fighting my way back outside with that knife.

definitely not an issue

even if that did happen, why would it bother you? the specials are random. you can't possibly know what they are to save for them. not like you save. you spend money like a hemorrhagic hippo in a stream of blood :D there are not 100s of people fighting for those bargains.

Man its just not worth it... Some people already think im an a$$hole, after that everyone would KNOW how true it is.

think? lol. just go. see the sights. chill out.

Well unless i smoked a HUGE lefty before hand...... And if i ever make it to blade, you can go ahead and assume thats the case.

there are drug dogs :D

Yea i dont know from personal experience but some of the pictures show quite a crowd standing over and around some of the booths. Some of them have people in bunches with their hands all in the air like they are saying "pick me pick me" Haha

And there are certainly some resellers buying multiples, i know some of them LMAO

There are teaser pics given ahead of time and thats how a lot of people know what they want to get proxies for, but not only the special show only knives, but there are also discounts when you buy from the show for certain knives....

I just think it would suck for the little guys trying to score 1 of something they can BARELY afford and one of the big timers buy them all up before they have a chance.... Again i have no idea if this is the case..... I never went, but when i see pics and videos of people rushing to a table and then hear stories of "SO and SO" buying all or 20 something of the "insert knife here" it makes me think that could be the case.. I could be completely wrong on that though.

Oh and the only way i could go to the show is IF i saved... Your right saving money is hardly one of my "talents" LMAO but by the time i paid for the trip and the room, id be relying on the show discounts thats for sure.

Drug dogs? Id probably get a long with them more.... But unless he pitches in.... Im not sharing.... Well maybe if he is REALLY cute :D

Now they say you should go to the show for the experience, not just a knife/knives, and id love it if i could chill out enough for that experience, but i do try and be honest to myself, and crowds... Indoors especially, is not a place i feel real comfortable.

I tried Warrior. I got inspired by your pictures to try and do something with a picture of my pup.

Nowhere near as good as yours, but kind of cool i guess.

One of the reasons I agreed to move to Knoxville is that it's right in the middle of BLADE in Atlanta and the Knifemakers Guild Show in Louisville :)

Id love to go to Blade as well... But pictures of the crowds kind of turned me off...

It's not nearly as bad as you make it sound.

Just a bunch of hillbillies, hippies, and degenerates drinking and playing with knives, My kind of people. :D

I resemble that remark! Also, there's ridiculous amounts of really good food. As I mentioned last fall... "This is the only time I've ever gone camping and actually gained weight..."

Do you have a custom knife maker that you can recommend to make your becker designs? Thanks

Hmmm... I don't presume to know how E feels about that but I'd be pretty leery.

I'll side with Bladite and Terrio on this one. Its nothing like you described. I'm very similar as far as hatred of crowds. Cant stand it. but as far as people gathering around with there hands in the air that only happens when there a G.A.W or a raffle or something, all you got to do it walk away and check something else out.

Personally, I couldnt get over how cool and generous everyone was. Hell, the biggest assholes in the place where the people I brought with me. The place is huge and theres always room to step aside and take a breath. If your ever gonna go, now is the perfect opprotunity WW. You know a large large group of people that will be there. Its not like you wouldnt have people of places to hang out. You ought to go.

Last spring I happened to be wearing a Clay Matthews jersey at BLADE. In one afternoon three different people - all total strangers - stopped me and commented on it and we had friendly conversations about football... and two of them were fans of bitter rivals (Bears and Lions). Just an example that 90% of people there are just regular knife folks like us :)

OK OK.. I get it... Its not that bad, like i said i dont know from experience or anything.. just some pictures and videos i seen kind of scared me off.

Do any of you guys know what era the bk10 in the exchange is? He says its a camillus, but the fact that its in a kabar box and comes with "all the bells a whistles" makes me think its one of the kabar first production runs

That is a Camillus BK10 the Kabar BK10LE was stonewashed and it is stamped Ka-Bar. My thinking on that knife is its a nice Camillus BK10 and the boxes got mixed up. IMO its worth what he is asking.

Yup Z got it. I didnt notice the price drop that was a good snag.

You know, if you wanna go I know someone that has a room and it's even being offered with a VIP pass to the show. Just saying it's a pretty sweet deal!

Yeah WW, pretty sweet deal, I already have a VIP pass for Cbear. You can have it if you take his room. The VIP pass gets you in not only for free, but also gets you in during hours that the public is not allowed. No crowds. Might be a hell of a deal for ya man if you want to go.

The VIP pass gets you in BEFORE the crowds????? Man thats AWESOME there.

There is really no way i could do it this year. Id have to plan it out better in advance. Mine and the wife's anniversary is next month and in June i have to pay for a custom. Plus i dont drive and to get there id have to take Amtrak or greyhound bus or something. Once i move to Florida it would be a lot closer and easier to make it.

Do they sell the VIP passes to the public? If so that will be the route i go if/when i do make it there. I didnt know that let you in before the public, that would be a dream for me. Wish i could do it this year.

They do not sell VIP passes to the public. You can only get them through a exibitor and we are only allowed so many.
