I'm about to buy one probably today from Wildcat.
I'll start a thread later with all my pictures from my endeavors of making my BK9 even more mine.

In addition to the knife I am making on my work bench I have something else "cool" in the works. My brother in law brought me his 5160 "wasp waist" gladius and pugio type dagger for modification. Basically I have to work out a load of surface scratches from him "sharpening" it, then he is wanting an acid etch done, then I'll sharpen them up. Only problem is I have to figure out a way to immerse the large sword, or figure out somehow else to accomplish it. I'll have to take some pictures when I get to it, should be something fun to work on while my knife is with Todd.

A little update on the Stripping, got almost all of it off. Need to apply a second coat so that should take another 20 minutes.

Also holy crap, under that coating the steel looks really nice.
Almost looks like a dark patina is put on it already.

It looks fantastic, can't wait for that to finish to start applying mt patina.

There might possibly be water falling from the sky... I think one of the weather station said we have had a 1/2" since last september.

Well the apartment I wanted was still available. Dropped off the application and that should go through no problem. Should be moving in in about a week.

Every year at work I have to go to the clinic on post and get a physical. For the 8 years I've been doing this job they always make me fast for 12 hours before the blood draw, so I did. Except the incompetent doc forgot to have the nurse draw a sample for the specific test I had to fast for. Now I have to go in again and have another blood draw and not eat anything for 12 hours before. This is not the first time this has happened either. I'm going to try and report him. It probably won't go anywhere but I'm gonna give it a shot anyway and try to find some other guys who've been screwed to get in too.

Wow, when I was at Lackland in Texas we had TON of rain in February of 2013.

ALSO It all stripped off!
Made my Patina after sharpening now time to wait 2-3 hours and see how to turns out!

Either you are from Arizona or someone was running a sprinkler while you were there :)

To be fair though, San Antonio is a big city and they take the "official" reading at the airport.. There are a lot of times I get nothing at my house (about 5 miles from Lackland AFB) and they get over an inch on the NE side of town.

Mail call was awesome today. One came USPS, the other came UPS... I had already got the USPS delivery and left the house and started walking to get my daughter from school and was a half mile from my house when the UPS driver pulled over to the side of the road to deliver my package to me... Just awesome. He knows me pretty well so when he seen me walking he just stopped the truck and handed it to me... AWESOME.

My mail call was pretty awesome today too. Got my 45 ton ironworker delivered today. What sucks though is I have to assemble it.......... that will take a forklift. The head unit is 750 lbs.

The UPS guy we used to have when I worked elsewhere would drop my packages of at my job instead of at my place whenever I got something. Then he would sit around and bs for a while before he left. He was probably the best delivery guy they've had. All they do now is throw the package on your step, hit the doorbell, and run.

Nice knvies too btw!!
Morning AC.

But its past 4:30PM here :D

I layed down for a nap after work this morning and just woke up a while ago with the dog nudging my hand cuz she needed to go outside. I guess I was tired.

I honestly didnt know what an ironworker was.. I though you guys that made knives were all ironworkers LOL

But last time you mentioned it I looked it up and watched a youtube video. I bet thats going to make some things easier!!

Do you still plan to use a waterjet service for some of your blanks? I know you also said you got, or are getting, a plasma cutter so im just curious if you plan on doing all work in house once you get all these big timer tools in?

Wood!
I'm going to be heading out for a couples hours it's such a nice day, however I'll still be able to respond from my emal, if you'd like send me an email and it'll be a lot easier since Bladeforums doesn't want me to have a BK2. :P

Email sent. I've seen some micarta that turned out that color after some oiling, so I was wondering which it was. It looks good!

Actually, these big timer tools as you call them will be mostly for my subcontracting work. I was hoping I could have dies made for the smaller knives like the hornet and magua. But the high carbon content even in the pre heat treated stage will ruin a die quicker than what I would want to pay for another one. As far as the plasma cutter. No dice there either. It uses heat, it would to say the least work harden the blanks. All of these tools aren't going to be much use to me as far as knifemaking goes. But everything outside of that, they will be a huge advantage.
