Hey guys and gals,

As the title says I've been thinking of going with a strider. (Or a CRK) As my step into higher grade blades.

I'm pretty sure I want a SNG with the thin (CC?) grips with the dgg in 154 cm.

With the Chris I'd like to try the inkosi or the 25. If I could get a carbon fiber one that would be ideal.

My main question is I have no problem buying users but what's a good price range for both new and used .

Sorry if this has been asked my search fu is a little weak
thanks

Edit also just visited the strider site and it doesn't seem that the if you break it they will replace it warranty no bs
is this still the case?

I am not sure if you are allowed or not to ask price?'s of this type as a registered member, so I am going to skip that for now.
Just a slight correction the SnG CC and SnG DGG are two different models. CC a contoured smooth Ti side and scale. DGG is a aggressive rougher finish on both the Ti and G10 side.
I am sure they still have a very good warranty , but I am not sure how it is worded at present. A very small few were going to extremes to break the knives, then sending them in. Basically they were going to find a way to break the knife no matter what it took. One example was someone who was battoning a SnG through trees. Started at 1" and broke it at 6"(even then it was probably bad technique). If he hadn't broken it then I think he would have worked up to a Sequoia.

The new price is set by Strider and every dealer charges the same amount, much like Chris Reeve and some others. So for new, just go with a dealer you like, but keep in mind that each dealer may have different models from each other or may have some exclusives. As far as used prices, that will vary based on the market and condition. You will probably have to do a little searching for that. As far as their warranty, I have never had to use it, but have heard it is good but slow. They also have very specific instructions to follow and not the best communication once it has been sent. You also have to be careful about customizing their knives or making certain changes as many things can void the warranty. The preceding information was in reference to Strider specifically, but some of it leo applies to the Reeve knives.

Go for it, Blade HQ has some.

Both great knives, maybe my two favourite designs even though they are not exactly "similar" in any way.

I would suggest an SMF in 154, only because you lose a 1/2 inch of the blade due to the choil (which is outstanding) so you end up with 3.5 inch's of useable blade. (The SnG would be 2.5 inches)

As far as a CRK goes, I have to suggest the Insingo. Best slicing blade I have ever used that can still handle hard use.
Maybe the best blade design I have ever used for EDC.

I love both knives, and I really think that regardless of which one you own first, you should try to eventually own both.
(Regardless of model or variation)

New prices and used are easy to find;

Check Strider/CRK dealers, prices are all the same.
Used, the exchange....

As far as a "good" used price, that depends on a lot of things.
Literally individual to each knife based on how used, who's selling it (that's important for me) and how the market is.

This is a great time to buy a used knife..

your figures are off on the SnG= a little over 3.5" of blade and just under 3" of edge
& I agree both are fantastic knives-take your pick or buy both

I am a Strider fan, and happen to have an SnG in pocket as I type this. I have a lego SnG currently. The CC is MY personal favorite. The CC & DGG (Double Gunner Grips) are two different handle types. I find the SnG to be a perfect EDC knife for me; it is tough enough to handle anything that you could possibly throw at it. I know Strider WILL take care of me, if I have any issues with it. Yes, I WILL be buying MORE Strider's, when funds allow.

Is the dgg lighter than the cc?

Oh and thanks for all the answers .

Yes looking into things (I have been a lurker for a while) your answers are pretty much what I already thought .

And I WILL be buying both just wanted to pick the first one lol.

I except the reeve is a fine cutting tool that can (even though most wont) handle hard use and even abuse.

I except the reeve will out slice the strider but the strider would be the better of the 2 for toughness (I have no safe Queens ) .
Both of these knives will get edc use that is why I don't mind used.

Thanks for the answers I should have brushed up on forum policy my apologies to any mods. :)

There is a SNG dgg for sale in the exchange but i don't know if the price is fair because I haven't looked at them enough, Yet!

I dont.mind spending close to 500 on a blade so long as I don't have to worry about it
(but I'd say 500 is close to max for something I'm going to actually use and possibly damage )

Again thanks for all the answers.

BTW I was looking for a CF scale not the inlay but good lookin out ;)

And also I hate the fan boy bull sh!t. I want the strider cause it's supposed to be the toughest with a warranty to back it .

If this is not the case I will give.my money elsewhere at the same time you hear about all the good experiences so it's hard to know "what's real" lol

The figures I have written down are
DGG 3.9oz
CC 4.2oz
Lego 4.5 oz
I would say they could vary .1 oz to the high side

I can't help you with the lightness between the DDG & CC, as I have never owned a DGG. Also, Strider knives DO have a lifetime guarantee. I think you WILL be VERY happy with them!! I have also been very happy with mine.
