Hmm.. Many manufacturers have lifetime warranty. Benchmade and ZT for example and neither requires a 25$ fee.

So actually many other makers can say they offer free warranty for the life of the knife lol it is called a lifetime warranty.
I've had many Striders; many CRK's. BOTH are fine knives. The Strider is "tougher" and has a thicker blade...0.190" in the SMF. So it's a workhorse, but not a slicer. The CRK blade is 0.140" and 0.125" in various models and is a good slicer. Strider customer service is slow but OUTSTANDING and free for the LIFE OF THE KNIFE. Who else can say that?
The CRK is more of a gentleman's knife in the Sebenza. The Umnumzaan is their version of a more tactical design. The Striders are basically tactical the whole way; it just depends on what you want.
When you're in the woods and using your knife, NOBODY cares what the scuttlebutt was all about. Forget it.

Where Strider has differed from some on the warranty is they have not voided it for abuse of the knife as some manufactures would. There are lots of great warranties, but they each have their own set of rules. Strider doesn't like modifications, CRK doesn't like abuse, but will put up with some modification.

Thanks for all the responses .I'm looking at both on the exchange and will probably grab one of each. And sell the one that doesn't "speak" to me .

Thanks for the warnings about the dgg
Is it more aggressive than a zt0560?

The pants thing doesn't bother me as all my pants get tore up.
But hot spots on the hands do bother me . I'm going to use the snot out of both of them!

No sense in having a 400 knife with a lifetime warranty if you don't use it :)

It's a lot more aggressive than the ZT0560, really not even a comparison. One of my most carried/pimped knives is my ZT0560BW and I have never thought it was too aggressive. I haven't even carried the DGG, just pocketed/fondled, and can tell you it's very aggressive, much more so than the ZT.

Hot spots I couldn't say one way or another, but Striders have phenomenal ergonomics. I wouldn't worry too much.

If I had to choose one handle configuration, it'd be lego. I know it isn't the best looking but it's the hardiest and feels the best in a medium/large hand like mine.

You'll be impressed after some hard use man, the heat treat is really on point....I've done some deplorable things to my SMF....it's still alive

We all have a line in the sand Strider has crossed that line for me and I won't forgive. If you build a company based on delusions then I think you need to be in jail not selling knives. I want to tell my kid that lying gets you no where and that you need to have integrity to be successful but he proves me wrong and I don't like it. Mr. Emerson is not far behind in general dishonesty but at least he doesn't live in delusion.

Lol I agree. But boy you will ruffle some feathers here.

If a person is curious they are never satisfied until they try themselves. I happen to enjoy both equally and have no reservation about hard use. I roll around on them under my vehicles even though the pair can set you back over $900 new.

there are a lot of opinions on Strider himself, but the opinions don't take away from the fact that his company makes one hell of a tough knife. I've owned many many variations, and I'll say that the CC configuration has by far been the most comfortable in the pocket and in the hand. I've never had any major issues with any of them. I had an issue briefly with some lock rock on one model, contacted Josh at Strider and they had it back to me within 3 weeks of sending it in. They have great customer service and back their product to the extreme.

So, if everyone here hates dishonest business practice so much, and lying/stealing CEOs, does that means everyone is going to be getting rid of the iPhones, MACs and other Apple products here soon??? Hmm... didn't think so.

Steve Jobs - "Good artists copy, Great artists steal. We have always been shameless about stealing great ideas."

He didn't steal an idea , he car jacked a person and pretend he was an army ranger in Somalia.... huge difference than what Steve jobs said.

Oh man don't get me going there. Those kids are literal slaves at $1.85 an hour working crazy long shifts and massive OT just to survive. All so Apple can be an $800+ billion dollar company. People tend to turn the other cheek when these things are a few layers away from them, but it's none the less evil.

You have good taste in knives-Of all my knives my SnG and small micarta Sebenza get carried the most(usually every day).

I couldn't agree with you more. I am unaware of Emerson's transgressions, but I do know about Strider.

Lol I agree. But boy you will ruffle some feathers here.

That's disappointing. Everyone is different when it comes to forgiveness. I forgive the guy for what he has done, but I just wouldn't send him my money. Not because I have problems with people who have lied or broken the law, because I have done both. I'm also quite certain he makes a great knife. The reason I'll stay away is that the whole business he has built is based on embellishment, delusion, and outright lies. I feel like sending him money only serves to validate his bad choices and perpetuate the behavior. Also, there is a difference between people who have lied (I am certainly guilty) and pathological liars.

There's no doubt that many CEOs have cheated, stolen, and lied. Steve Jobs may have been just as bad and I'm just not aware of it. I can only make decisions about those things of which I'm aware. If I found out Jobs did similar things, I would, in fact, sell my iPhone. I am aware of Strider's transgressions. They are not insignificant. This will be the end of my two-post crusade. I just thought I should say something because it affected me, personally, and I was totally unaware of this stuff until the first page of this thread. I'm sure there are many more out there who were as ignorant as I was. I would have wanted to know this before sending Strider my money.

That is why myself and others continue to let people know about old mickey burger. Many folks who are unaware should know he is a fraud. His fans always get upset but oh well.

My issue is atonement.

As we say in those meetings that have those steps...

Principles before personalities ;)

Which you have on page 1, but this is about the knives.
Strider may still be the name of the Company, and he may still have a title there, but he is no longer involved in the day to day operation of the company. He is now doing the MSC knives and they are not even located in the same place.
There is no company or knife that I am aware of as polarizing as Strider. With both the knife and the person, people tend to love or hate. Personally I love the knife and actually like the man. He has always been generous with his time and helpful to me in our brief conversations, and I have seen him step up to help many in distress-especially veterans. Like many there is bad , but there also is good, and I am sure those he has helped were glad he was there for them.
You of course can make your own decision if you want to buy a Strider or not. There are plenty of other makers to choose from. However this 20 years of trying to de-rail every Strider thread is getting real old and only makes you(all) look bad IMO. You are interfering with others enjoyment of knives.
OK-off my soap box and back to knives
I'll just add-I just picked this members quote and it was not just aimed at him. This is the knife part of the forum, if you care to open a GB&U on the subject I have no objections, it's just this back door de-rail I find irking, not your expressing your opinions on Strider.
I do apologize to the OP if I stirred the off topic portion up any more than it usually is in a Strider thread

^ This!

^ This too.

The CRK Sebenza, & Strider SNG, are both high quality, tough knives! I can't add much to this discussion, that hasn't already been discussed, other than the fact:

I was invited to stop by Strider's facility by Josh Lee. This was back when they were still located in San Marcos, about a year before the moved to Escondido. Josh, was super nice guy, & spent about a half hour, giving me a tour around their facility.

When I was working up in North Central Idaho, for 6 months this past year; I was invited to stop by CRK's. I would've loved to have taken them up on their offer; unfortunately, the 10 hour round trip, was a bit too far. Maybe this year, if the offer still stands.

You definitely won't find better customer service, or warranty, than what these two companies deliver!

Best of luck, & please give us an update (with pictures), when you make a decision.

Hell yes it's worse than the 560 . Strider now has the dumbass Claus in their warranty . Used to be it broke they fixed it . Now if it broke and it was because you were bring a dumb ass you might have a fee. Now I've never heard of anyone paying a fee or strider turning down anyone . I think they are getting a little tired of people doing dumb things or trying to break their knives though.

New people deserve to know that back story about Mick . I'm not throwing stones here and hope it doesn't get derailed OP and I have chatted in private and he wants to learn .

It's a strange backstory very very strange to be honest . I'll haft to do some digging but IIRC it ended up in the courts and a judge actually has prevented Mick and those claims in the selling of his knives now.

I was a strider supporter then a strider hater when I found out what happened . Only reason I bought his knives again was because of the stories of him giving knife after knife away to people in harms way. He made a mistake but he does a lot for the military community (so I've heard )

We have to have some fun as we all enjoy the same hobby if not opinions. :D

^ :D

Exactly! Some people here take this hobby way too seriously, & don't enjoy it.

FWIW: I have several very good USMC Iraq/Afghanistan Vet friends (who were stationed & deployed out of Camp Pendleton). We typically get together weekly (happy hour Friday at this fun Mexican restaurant in Carlsbad). Most of these tough warrior's, were given Strider knives for their kits. We've discussed this same topic that always seems to comes up here, when the name, "Strider," is mentioned.

These tough USMC Veteran's who fought bravely (some of their Semper Fi brother's died) for our Country; their responses have been: who cares! Not one of these guys could give a rats ass.

EDIT:
"To each his own."
"Some people just love to argue, for the sake of arguing."
