Awsome thanks! The dgg is calling

Don't let anyone muddy the waters of this thread with "do some research" crap.

Do you think they research the CEO of every company they purchase a product by? Or just reference the dirty laundry they know off-hand so they can join in on a 20 year old plus dog pile? I think you can figure that one out yourself....

As for the knives -

If you're buying a newer production I would expect it to meet your expectations and some. I've had some issues with some of the earlier models however. None of which are seen in today's productions.

Chris Reeves have been consistently excellent in my experience, as well.

To answer your question about the Strider warranty - Yeah, it's pretty all inclusive. I have used it multiple times and have never had an issue at all. If it's broke, they'll fix it. Assuming you didn't torch it in half or something.

Two very solid choices.

I'm guilty of Strider bashing but I must say... His fixed blade edge geometry is on point. Take the plunge from folders to fixed.

Every one is a hypocrite in one way or another. Remember Harold and Kumar when they landed in president bush's house? " do you like getting hand*obs? Well do you like giving hand*obs? LOL that makes you a hypocrite."

That was an awesome reference!

Me too CM . I've been a strider basher in the past ,but looking at things from just a gear point of view here's my thoughts.

Strider is a damn fine knife . The SnG (you don't haft to respect mick but the S and G should be capitalized). The SnG is a lightweight knife , I've had about 10 striders about 5 SnGs and 5 SMFs all have been worth it to me. The SnG is a good slicer for as thick as it it . Personally for eDC a stonewashed FFG blade is what I prefer . The flamed and coated 3/4 grinds may cut certain things better where the whole blade doesn't have to go through material just the edge. Of all I've owned I've never had an issue with any of them all have had great lockup etc.

Some may not like how strider does their customer service. Basically you send them your knife with return shipping and you don't hear from them . Fast forward a little bit and you'll have your knife back. They aren't the most chatty folks ,but they fix your stuff so no complaints from me.

On to sebenza . I have one and its the only one I've owned . IIRC the cutting edge on the small sebenza and the SMF are the same . Striders big ole choil takes a lot of real estate but it has its purpose.

The sebenza is more elegant if you will. It just feels refined . It is the most blade in the smallest package . It slices well .

I use the sebenza same as the strider . Both work both are tough. If I had to pick just one hell I don't know that I could . They are both great knives . Sebenza carries better to me ,but strider isn't bad you just have a block sticking out of your pocket.

I will say strider is spot on with the heat treat on their steels.

Ergos again personal preference ,I give it to strider . Thing is you have a bigger knife in the strider and you have Less cutting edge, but it makes up for it in ergos IMO. Sorry not much help here.

I love anything strider. Own 15+ folders and a few fixed. Never had a single problem with one and I'm not the type to buy a high end and not use it.

The DGG models are hell on pockets..

This is true-I like the CC lockside and Gunner G10 scale for grip, so I have modified a couple of mine. One has a true Gunner scale and the other has a custom scale with an aggressive pattern.
Most likely killed the warranty, but it is what I like. I just wish I could get it from them.
I also have a custom MSC(much thinner grind) and a lego digicam with flag scale
I love the SnG
All my CRK's are Sebenza's which wasn't what you were looking at, but I can say Chris is a perfectionist and makes a very fine knife.

Anything CRK IMHO...

The old school seb 21 & Ti-lock I had were amazing.

FWIW; I'm down to my last Strider; it'll be gone before too long as well I imagine. Take that as you will LOL.

I wasn't a fan of the DGG to be honest . It looks the best IMO but if you use the knife for any length of time it starts to tear your hands up.

I don't have gigantic hands but they aren't by any means small. For me I like the Lego SnG the best

I concur with many in that more CEOs than likely realized have pulled some shady crap, given away jobs, cheated the books, back-stabbed partners, cut corners and on & on. These actions have destroyed many more lives than the man in question. Having said that, it does strike a personal nerve however I won't be casting any stones.

I started with a DGG, but like many found them extra rough on pockets. Traded for a G10 CC and it's the only modern folder I haven't traded or sold in years. The FFG CPM154 is a great steel and slices pretty darn good. Second to none stone washing as well. I have used the crap out of my SnG and the blade is unscathed. I also own a micarta small and it's a great knife too. They can and do coexist regardless of the fan boys/haters on both sides.

Unless you have somewhere you can handle all the configurations of SnG(knife show may be the only place since they may not all be available at any one time), all you can do is take your best shot and see if you like it. Most people have one handle style that they favor but which one varies person to person, and some they may dislike. If you don't find your SnG in the production line, you can go up one step to the MSC performance line which has a number of other configurations. My 1st was a lego and I didn't like it at all. Luckily I tried again. At this point I like them all, but some fit better for me in certain situations.

The surprising thing to me about Striders (and I've only owned one, which was a fixed blade) is that they nail the heat treat and grind on their prybar blades. I was not expecting to be able to shave hair at a touch with a knife blade that thick. I really love their fixed blades, and would love to try a CC SnG.

I appreciate your input, sir.

Be sure to get one with tiger stripes.

Be sure to get one with tiger stripes.

Some people love them, but they have never been my thing. I was even weak on the black oxide, but have accepted it for my tool steel blades for a bit of protection.
Oh well-different tastes
I presume you were being sarcastic. I could be wrong, but it doesn't matter either way, for as I said some like them.

I've had many Striders; many CRK's. BOTH are fine knives. The Strider is "tougher" and has a thicker blade...0.190" in the SMF. So it's a workhorse, but not a slicer. The CRK blade is 0.140" and 0.125" in various models and is a good slicer. Strider customer service is slow but OUTSTANDING and free for the LIFE OF THE KNIFE. Who else can say that?
The CRK is more of a gentleman's knife in the Sebenza. The Umnumzaan is their version of a more tactical design. The Striders are basically tactical the whole way; it just depends on what you want.
When you're in the woods and using your knife, NOBODY cares what the scuttlebutt was all about. Forget it.
