This guy doesn't like beckers.....

The 2 was my first Becker; definitely overbuilt but I wouldn't want to dig with it as others have mentioned because if mine touched anything other than soft wood it would chip out. I got rid of it because I think, while not completely useless, the 2 is kind of gimmicky. Given the blade length, I don't see a need for 1/4" stock. Anything you can baton with a BK2, you can baton with a BK10.

What is with people and weight? "It ways one pound!" Where did all the nancy gram counters come from that think 1 lb is a heavy? The BK2 feels light in my hand and not large by any means. Other knives feel small and brittle compared to the BK2. I don't ever have to worry about breaking my knife or damaging it, and that's because it feels like a tool! I mean obviously if you only plan on using your knife to pick your nails and open your dehydrated mac and cheese then yeah you don't need a BK2. But then again if you're not using your knife for a variety of tasks then why are you writing reviews for all different kinds of knives and comparing them to each other? This guy is an idiot.

So you had a BK2 that chipped out frequently? How large of chips are we talking? You make it sound as if hitting a stiff breeze would cause it to chip out, and if that is the case you had a bum BK2. One of the more prevalent threads going around has a guy beating his through a cinder block, refrigerator, lawnmower, nails, and none of that type of abuse caused any significant chipping, instead either rolling or deforming, which is what you want. Chipping though is very bad as it indicates that the knife might have been heat treated incorrectly, and as these are set to a medium hardness to prevent just that, you might have gotten a bad one. It happens when thousands upon thousands are produced, but still, we don't want that. Tell us more about your experiences with it.

Personally I think people will use what they want to use, and yes, a BK10 can do most of the same things a BK2 can do, but not everything.

I agree. A pound isn't shit. I find it comfortable. As with any knife, it's what you get used to using. When I was carving out the spoon last weekend with it, and chopping, it made me like it all over again.

The BK2 has something that isn't mentioned a whole lot. The fun factor. It's just a blast to use. It's the most funestest knife I own. :D

Well, i personally found this article to be really helpfull.

I've been meaning to get myself some new steel, and i've been having a hard time deciding if i want a BK2 or a BK5, and taking this guys opinions into concideration, I DEFINATLY INTEND TO GET A BK2 :D

I find his opinion comforting.
As in, it's different from the pack.
There's a reason that there are so many different knives available. He doesn't like the BK2, he doesn't have to have a BK2.

I like whipping it out in public.

Sometimes I have my BK2 with me........

There probably a reason uncle E is a famous knife designer and this guy... Well this guy sits on his computer and "reviews" things other people make a living off of.

I stab intruders with mine.

Get both. The more the funnenestier!

This guy is full of beans. Anybody can pound a knife through a piece of wood, but an actual knife user would be able to baton a piece of wood and dissect a flea with the BK2, There is a difference. I wonder what he would say about the BK7 or BK9. Guess I better go dig a hole and bury my 2 and 7 as they are just not good for anything;)
God Bless
Tracy
