Ok I know..BEATING a DEAD HORSE..
I am so sick and tired of NEW Members and older members
contacting me about a knife-item.
Disappear for over a day..
I reply with PMS and Emails
NOTHING..
Then they come out of thin air and POOF..
Some kind of excuse or excuses..

..........I am so fed up with this BS..........I AM VERY AWARE .. Some of us have had to back out
of a deal for issues that arise..Emergency etc.. ((I have had my fair share of those))
But Damn.. I simply see a pattern for very new members doing this a great deal..

On top of that... When they state I will take it and you follow
proper BF courtesy...And you hold off another buyer.. Then they FLAKE
The buyer you held off ..NOW is in the wind....
Its amazing how I HAVE BUILT My Ignore List in 6-8 months..WOW..........

BFD, I said I would take it, then changed my mind, then changed my mind again and said I would take it and then my watch needed a new battery so I had to back out. But then I realized my watch was a wind up type so I said I would take the knife and then you get all pisssy just because I forgot to Paypal you the funds, but it was only six weeks, and did not answer any E-mails or PM's because I broke my Sphincter bone and typing was difficult.
THEN
You have the nerve to come here and complain!!!!!!!

It is also about integrity and character..
 
I feel as though new BF members are going to start being discriminated against soon because of the actions of a few :-( I know I've seen "under 10 feedback ships first" in trades, but soon we're going to have "refuse to sell to anyone under 10 feedback".

No transactions, no feedback. No feedback, no one will transact with you.
Kind of a double edge sword.
This is one of the reasons why I just avoid buying on forums.
 
I always put in my sales thread please have at least 5 positives here on BF any less please message me.

You must start somewhere---We all joined once a upon a time..JUST like all the new folks.,
DO WHAT YOU SAY..SAY what you intend to do.
We where all once new....
YOU CHOOSE not too buy in here.

They know..Its too protect myself..As they would do the same.

You must build your reputation in here. One step ..One deal or trade at a time..
You have to trust in folks at some point in time.
I have and will continue to ship $500-$1000 knives out to buddies I have
dealt with in a minute without payment...If they claim it.. Deal and work out $$ later.
I ship it,,
BECAUSE we have built a TRUST with each other.

Gizmo, I'm not saying anything against the sellers right to be selective. Just merely pointing out the catch 22 of the situation..
and you are 100% correct. I have made the choice not to buy here. Not because of a failing in the system, or any animosity towards anyone here, I just prefer to stay out of that section of the forum.
Most people here do know me, under a different name on a different forum where I have chosen to participate in buying and selling.
All that aside, I agree with you about Flaky buyers. I've had my share. I just remember who they are and opt not to deal with them again.

It's unfortunate that some buyers will lose interest, and not follow through with a simple transaction, but if your knife is a popular model, and priced very well, it will always sell. When I have a knife to sell that is not deeply discounted, and has a very limited audience, I will try and be patient with whoever comes along, knowing full well that the deal may fall through.
 
For buying, no one ever turned me down when I had no feed back and was new.

A money order, or ebay goods and you should have no issues.


For trades, or as a seller, it might take a bit longer.
 
So I'll chime in here as a new member, an old fart and someone who's upbringing was "The most valuable thing you'll ever own in your lifetime is your good name. Don't throw it away!"

1.) Civility, manners and etiquette are terminally ill. Reputation, good will, honesty and the value of one's word are breathing dirt.
2.) Long term _________________ is dead.
3.) There is no one in the world more important than ME. (Once called narcicism, a mental illness.)
4.) Anonymity. Hell, we even use fake names!
5.) A transaction is a battle. There is one winner and one loser.
6.) "I know thousands of people [whom I never met] - I don't care if I alienate a few."
7.) No hall monitors to transactions; no enforceable penalties; none of my skin in the game.

I'll stop there.

As a self-described old fart, I just couldn't help myself! Oh no, I sound like my Parents did when I was young!!!

Just kidding of course. This really is getting to be a huge issue on all of the forums. I really think if there was some kind of recourse for this then some might not be so loose lipped. As it stands there is no incentive to keeping your honor. What really gets my nuts in a knot is just how often i see someone back out of a deal offering up a sob story of why they cant pay and then you find out through the grapevine what really happened is johny no wits favorite knife came up for sale seconds after giving that ill take it and backs out not because of an unexpected bill or health scare and its really just a case of the grass being greener on another deal. Sac up people, own your "ill take it"
 
On a serious note. i do not hesitate to deal with a new person on BFC as long as he/she has a complete profile, has an E-mail that does not end in Hotmail, has an address not just a PO Box and is willing to provide his/her phone number that I can verify prior to shipping.
So if you join BFC, have a username like native Nazi or MallNinja Racist, live at PO Box XXX, cannot remember your legal address, have only a hotmail account, and give me a bogus phone number......we just are not going to get any deals done.

Be up front, honest in word and deed and have integrity and I will ship before even getting payment, even if you have only been here two days.
