This should ruffle some feathers

Skunk,

That was the absolute best post in this thread so far.. Thanks for the plain no-non-sense speech. No truer words were ever spoken either here or anywhere else!. Its nice to see a level headed fellow prevail with simple common sense.

Blessings to All~

Now if you want an attack I will give you one, anyone that would pay 500 dollars for an overbuilt, overpriced, copy of a roman short sword that is good for nothing besides showing off to your mall ninja friends is more concerned with image than skill. That mister Finkenstein is an attack, just as your posts have been attacks. Chris

That isn't an attack against me. How is acting like a complete ignoramus/petty child an attack on me? Laughable. :D

It only serves to erode your own credibility (which is now at zero)

Good post skunk. I like and use many different knives, but my number one bush knife is a Busse. I could get by with a $20 bushman, but I love knives, so I buy what I like and its nice to have a knife that you are not going to brake.

Each to there own and use what works for you, but there seems to be several:jerkit: :jerkit: on here that are bagging out the expensive knives just for the sake of it.. Get over it!!

Hey Guys...

Great post Skunker...
I had started a post about an hour ago, that pointed out some of the same things, but it got a little hot and I stopped writting it..

You wrote what I wanted to write...

I as well own thousands of dollars woirth of Busse knives, as well as several hundred dollars worth of Moras..

Tomorrow night and Saturday I'll be teaching our venture group firemaking, I'll be bringing a host of different knives, including Busse, Moras, a Tops Anaconda 9, Sog, Cold Steel and a few customs...

I respect Cobalt, you are a valuable member here, however I just wanted to touch quickly upon something you said with your pictures, (which were Very well done BTW)

Although I know my knives will pry and dig holes,, I hardly never,, if ever put them in these kinds of situations (except the time I pryed the top of a car door open with a Battle Mistress so a clothes hanger could be inserted in, or the time I pryed the crinkle out of a door hinge for a cop at the on/scene,, umm I mean scene of a car accident)..

If I'm going to dig,, I'll make a digging stick, or use a different too,, if I'm going to pry anything heavy I'll get a prybar...
However it is nice to know that it will do that..

I would not put my Moras through that kind of trauma,, not because they won't do it(and if it bends,,it is doing what it is suppose to do),, but because it's not the right tool for the job...

I'd also like to correct the term "cheap" (Not sure who said it), however Moras aren't cheap,, they are inexpensive,, theres a huge difference...The Mora is a fine cutting instrument and should be used as such...

As far as expensive knives vs inexpensive knives go... I don't look down on people for carrying either..It's all about what you can afford and enjoy.. Exactly what Skunk said about cars...

I seen all of the weekend terroists (tourists) up north out of Toronto driving their shiny Mercedez 4 wheel drive SUVs that haven't seen offroad in their lives,, and here we are driving a F150, dirty, smelly of rotten meat going places offroad that these SUVs would never dream of.. Or the dipshit that got suck on our trail with is Escalade and we drove around him.

I look at it this way..

We are all here for the same purpose and thats knives.. We all have the love for the same tool, we just all buy different brand names...

Enjoy..

Hey Rat And Cobalt

In my origional post I quoted a friend about buying whine.

I was simply trying to say that there are good products out there in all price ranges, and that the people here are not knife snobs. It appears I was wrong in the latter. (a weird kind of inverted snobbery)

I was not attacking Busse Owners.

I am trying to save towards my first one Now, In fact I am in love with the one on the bottom of Rat's posts.( and the sharpener From Cobalt's)

If I were headed to a deserted island and given the choice between a Battle Mistress and a Mora I know I wouldn't take the Mora but if i was packing for a day hike I probably would.

I don't want anyone to feel attacked by my statements and I appologize if you felt that way.

PS: if you have read any of my other posts you will see that I am a Huge fan of the Scrapper 6 partially because it is a bargain. there are knives which cost twice as much that are of lesser quality. again i believe this supports what i was trying to say that there are Good knives to be had at many price ranges and not just at the higer levels.

Cheap Knives for Cheap Lives. . . I like good knives. Trying to be a snob and put down superior tools because they cost more than a disposable cheapie is just plain ridiculous.

Cheese an' freakin' rice, where do I begin to respond to this? Here's a start, "No one asked you!"

How long did you have to search through threads/sections you seldom, if ever, post in, to find something you can bitch about? Is it some kind of hobby for you to bear down on people who choose not to buy Busse?

No one in this thread did anything other than discuss the kinds of knives they like, and why. Busse and ScrapYard were brought up, opinions were expressed, facts were conveyed. No one said they were junk. So what's your problem?

In this particular part of the forum, people seem to like some grocery money left over after they buy a knife; so sorry if that offends you, Rat and Cobalt. You may have noticed, I and the other guys who post here favor performance over all else, and we're usually pretty damn clear about what our knives can and can't do. No one claimed a Mora would chop like a Battle-Rat or whatever it's called. Not one poster said "this knife is by default better than this because it costs less", that would be retarded. Thanks much for the insult by inference.

If you take the time to read something other than whatever titilates your adolescent "my-dick-is-bigger-than-yours" response, you'll notice more than one poster, myself included, pointed out that we're not here to rip on high-end knives, it's just not what we're into. The fact that this pissed you off so much says a lot more about you, than it does about the folks who were having a reasonable conversation before you barged in.

I'm probably breaking a rule by cussing in this thread, and if I get banned for it that's no one's fault but mine, but here goes. FUCK YOU RatFinkenstein and Cobalt for bringing your "snob" mentality into a thread that has nothing to do with the knives you like.

You're trolling in the worst way, and you know it. Go piss up a rope with your platinum and gold memberships, boldface type and elitist, bullshit attitudes.

Gibson, you are missing the point mate.
Only a $500-$1000 dollar knife will save your life when your time comes.
Dollars = quality you should know that.
My company spends a fortune telling the public exactly that.
You want the best? Knife, Crowbar, WMD.
Some sport shoe companies pay big name sports stars multi million dollars to endorse their shoes.
Made in third world countries for $5.00 bucks and sold for $200 bucks.
Thats marketing hype and controlled supply of a product.
Trickle feed it and keep the punters wanting more.
Mass produce it and the price will not stick.
Before anyone mentions black arts in steels and grinds, I have one word "Bullshit"
These high end knives are no doubt good quality.
They were not made in heaven or by the Elves of Rivendell with "magic" in every blade.:D

Each to their own, if you earn lots of money you can afford to have a collection of $500 safe queens.

Last thought is this, how often has somebody been on the news and said " I was lost on a desert Island, talking to Wilson my basketball, the only reason I survived was my high end knife (enter name) .......... Thank god I had that to gut my Fish and not a CRKT etc.

A sharpened heat treated piece of metal is what you can afford and are prepared to pay.

I am relatively poor.
I have a Bushman, a Ka-Bar short black and a Glock 78 and I have been happy with all of them, they cop a hiding and come back for more.

You said it gibsonfan, these asses went apeshit on guy in the knife testing forum when he mentioned busse, it was quite ridiculous. :barf: I intervened to see if I could get a bit more civility from everyone involved, and of course was cought in the cross fire. The attitude on these guys bordered on scary.
These fanboys are much too touchy about Busse. There are several people on here who love moras a lot, but if someone knocked moras, and I mean really knocked them, not just a few vauge statements that might be considered negative, they would just shrug and say "your loss, man, hope you change your mind someday".
I highly doubt they spend their day putting "mora" in the search feature for every forum to police the entire site and dish out some keyboard warrior brand of whoop-ass to the non infi cultists, and have the gall to say the wilderness survival forum is elitist and will not allow non friends into discussions. I have no idea where that one came from but I have seen nothing but openminded advice and helpfulness to anyone that comes looking for help in this forum.

So in closing you should find out if those badass busses can break through your thick skulls, videotape it, and let us all watch it.

They were not made in heaven or by the Elves of Rivendell with "magic" in every blade.:D

Danno that's the Best line in the entire thread, well done !!!!

LOL, 3/4 of my street is like that!! Don't forget their little retarded dogs that gets around in a purse!

+1 Skunk, great post.

Mora $10
BK-7 $50
Lastest high-tech wonder knife $350 and up.

Knowing what you are about in the wilderness...

Priceless. Mac

The level of ignorance from some people in here is overwhelming. Gibbonspam, you would have a hard time buying a clue if it was free (which it happens to be). Stop having a hissy fit when people call you on your whiny BS. Your flailing and lashing out because you have nothing intelligent to say is kind of funny to watch in a sad way.

Danno- what are you babbling about? Are you talking about something or just typing random illogical phrases?

This is a public forum, people are welcome to buy and use whatever knives they choose to. This is not the "I want to have grocery money left after buying a knife" forum. In fact that retarded statement proves the point I made earlier about snobbery and bias of some members in this sub forum.
These few individuals suffer from inferiority complexes, perhaps? Why else would they feel the need to attack other people's knife choices in an attempt to accomplish what? Looking foolish?

I like Cheap(inexpensive) knives as well as expensive higher quality knives. In fact it could be said that I am a knife lover in general.

i think everyone needs to mellow out. just drop it, this thread's a toilet bowl stirring a little truth and a lot of foolishness in the process of flushing.

Ok, now that was funny.

When you buy a Busse, this sharpener comes with it. I bet you'll buy a few busses now!!!

OMG! Seriously who is this girl?

The word perfect come to mind.

This thread should have come to a hault as nothing tops this...

Speachless.

Spoken like a man who is worthy of respect. :jerkit:

In case the smilies don't do it for you, yes, that is sarcasm. If you are incapable of being polite perhaps you should step away from the keyboard.

I own busses. and mora. and blackjacks. and oldtimers. and saks. and so on. I suppose I have a knife for every single job a knife could be used for. Am I a snob for having an expensive knife? For you to attack cobalt and rat, for you to claim that they brought up busse knives in this thread, does nothing more than expose your own personal bias, your own ignorance and your own snobbish attitude.

I was under the assumption that this particular forum was about building skillsets and discussion of same. I was under the assumption that bladeforums was a place for knife lovers of all types to gather and converse with one another. Now it seems I was wrong and that has nothing to do with rat and cobalt and everything to do with people like gibsonfan and several others in this thread.

But then, I own busses. and am a gold member. and, sometimes, I bold my words. So, I guess I'm gonna go stand in the corner with the other members here who have "elitist, bullshit attitudes". compared to the way you have comported yourself here, gibsonfan, I'd say I'm in good company.

Roughedges, did you actually read the whole thread?
He isn't calling all busse owners jackasses, just those two
particular ones. (though they tend to travel together a lot,
and rat answered for cobalt about christina model, methinks
they are one and the same.)
