Thought this was interesting...

I sit and answer too many questions that people have because of bad info not to feel strongly about it.

Yes, people make mistakes but most don't have thousands of followers that depend on the information they put out.

If your going to do it, do a decent job of it. Misquotes and miscalculations make a big difference.

Believe me, I see exactly what you're saying and believe it or not, I think you're right. What I'm saying though is that it just seems people get so riled up over his videos and him specifically. It's YouTube, it's free, you can't expect perfect information.

I'm going to play devil's advocate because that's what I like doing.
nutnfancy constantly states "I am not the end-all knife expert, there are plenty of guys who know more about knives than I do". So technically speaking, that quote nullifies everything everyone is saying. He's admitting to not being an expert and implying that you shouldn't rely on him for everything.

(Whether you believe him when he says that or not is up to you. Personally, I DON'T believe him. I think he says that but in the back of his mind he's thinking he IS the best and does know EVERYTHING. That is the main reason I watch him for entertainment only.)

I am not trying to defend him, I think that he doesn't like people disagreeing with him and thats why he is constantly bashing "the forums." But he does put out the highest quality knife videos on youtube. I wish he had a video out for every knife I wanted to buy. It would help me make my decision to be able to see it in hand and hear about all the features.

well i did leave a comment...that he will never read...his secretary(sister) might...and you will be out a ESEE six for like 8 months if you send it to him...so i wouldnt do that personally...

That's why I like knife reviews on forums and not on Youtube. People can disagree, and correct each other, and not always acrimoniously. Those who can't take criticism, can't learn.

But he does put out the highest quality knife videos on youtube.

Btw for the money, if you aren't looking for tree felling with belt knives... check out cutlery lover! I believe he has the best reviews, just my opinion though!

I don't hate the guy and I think he does a good job for the most part but I also take everything with a grain of sand. Alot of his "followers" are pretty rabid and take his words as gospel.

When he makes misquotes, and I've seen alot more than just this one, people like me who are tasked with answering questions in an official capacity get more work to do.

I've had fans of his argue with me about false info and in the end, tell me I don't know what I'm talking about.
 
In a way, he is right about the RAT-7 vs. ESEE-6. He has tested the RAT-7 extensively and it works, so why would you pay an extra $20-25? Me personally I trust the Rowen heat treat more and I like the coating, fit and finish of the ESEE line. The value of those things is difficult to quantify for the average user. And then theres Ontario's questionable business ethics but that's a whole 'nuther question.

Don't buy that from his actions, he just does that to block out other people critiquing
 
unrelated to the vid posted he said that the spyderco military has Ti liners, when in fact it has SS. now in the spyderco forum you see a lot of people thinking they are Ti, and i agree with Mr S take it with a grain of salt.

Just use the knife before you say its not worth an extra 20 bucks. It is all I ask from someone in his position.

I never said that I did but it..I explicitly said that I don't. The fact of the matter is that technically speaking, that statement makes it ok for him to make a mistake every once in a while. Whether he is sincere or not does not matter. It does not matter if he's just trying to "block out other people critiquing" the fact that he said that means that if you take his opinions/words as fact and find out they are wrong, it's not his fault. It's yours because you listened to him. Youtube is for entertainment, while there may be many educational videos on it, it is NOT an educational website. If people choose to take his words as fact, it is their own fault, not his.

Your right free country. He has the freedom to put out one-sided opinions and I get the right to bash him. Neither of us are better than the other as a human I get that. No beef man I totally respect some good knife drama. I guess I get mad with any bashing of the RC-6, my problem. KNIFEABILITY-a must for all humans

That's what I said in a much earlier post. I'm not arguing for or against nutnfancy, I'm arguing that people are getting way too crazy when it comes to him and his videos. He puts out a disclaimer ("I'm not an expert") and proceeds to act a certain way. I don't care if he acts like he knows everything or not. People who take what he says for fact have only themselves to blame.
 
Someone should make a response video talking about the merits of the ESEE-6 and why it is worth the money. Anyone who saw his video would get a chance to see a different point of view.

That's the way I see it, he can put out whatever he wants, whether he's right or wrong I don't care.

i think it would be wrong to put out misinformation with ~60K subscribers that take your word on something, like Mr S said when you get to his level you have to fact check stuff.
