Nick, My wife and I used to breed Newfs too, until we started breeding kids.

Bentley is about 165 pounds, Oliver is the little one--- he's only like 159 pounds ;) :)

They actually don't eat a whole lot more than an adult lab eats. Still gets spendy with two of them. Oliver actually does look kind of little in the pic above, but in this one you can see he's not exactly small.... ;)

As you can imagine, we have to be careful of black bear hunters around here.

My cousin has a giant Newf. He was given a bear skin to tan out and had it all stretched in his garage, scraping it down. His neighbour walked up and stood there with a startled face. My cousin quickly took advantage and began to explain how Darcy(the Newf) had died and he was making a rug to remember her by. A few awkward seconds went by before his dog sauntered in and ruined the whole joke.

ETA: Oh yeah.... Nick, you're a prick.

Our neighbors have a small 140# Newfie that is really darn great. Quiet, soft and quite cuddly. Very cool dogs.

Higgy, is that really you?????

Where in the world have you been?
My sentiments exactly. I damn near did a jig when I saw you had posted...and I appreciated what you had to say too.

Back on the original topic, for a bit. I was thinking about this thread last night, it seems to me many of these issues would possibly be resolved if there were some sort of distinction for "Real" makers around here. Maybe like if you have a table at blade or you have had a Featurette done in a respected knife publication.

The main reason I bring this up is because I have the Orange name but have not even sold a knife yet. I support the forums at that level, and also attempt to convey that fact in my description, but not everyone will do that or should do that, nor will many forum users even read far enough to understand that I am not a maker. They will just see ORANGE and maybe think I am big shit someplace. I do attempt to only post when I can be of help, but again others may not. Good example of this (and I am not picking on you or have ever seen you post anything I have had any problems with) is William Schrade at the top of this page. Someone may think OMG I am talking to the Schrade Knife Co. owner, or at least someone affiliated with the current workings of the company. Again William please do not read more into that than just an example.

Anyhoo I guess my rant is over. I am not sure if this should even be considered, let alone how it would possibly be implemented.

I've stayed out of this discussion, and I intend to not make my opinions public. But ^ Carls idea is a good one. Another forum I am on has "badges" under members screen names that denote "Contributer" or "Steward" and is not able to be given by ones self, a mod team must do it. I do not know the logistics involved with such a huge site as this, but I think its a valid idea.
