Three Weapons and You're On Your Own

Not much to add to the thread really...Just wanted to say I'm a bit surprised at the two mentions of ye olde Nylon 66. Nice to see some folks still 'preciate the old gal.

As for me screw the handgun...I'd want a .376 Steyr Scout Rifle for the infinite ammo supply etc. and I'd want a decent .22 over 12 Ga. combo for the one I gotta scrounge for. (I don't think Savage makes them in .22 over 12 Ga., but they oughta) Should be able to kill any critter on Gods green earth with them.

As far as a blade, that's a pretty tough call. Since you're talking about a long term situation, I'd want a pretty big blade. Something along the lines of a 20" AK. I'd be looking at finding a place deep in the boonies and staying there, none of that nomadic wandering fighting bad guys stuff for me... :D

O.K....
savage 24V-A...30/30 over 20ga. reliability of a single shot. Both calibers of ammo found everywhere. Big game through small game ability in one long arm.
Glock 17 w/ high capacity mags. Again reliability with available ammo.
Knife would be the hardest choice....probably 20" cobra. Long, light, quick but solid enough for light to medium chopping.

Rusty?

You are getting a THIRD Nylon 66 ????? :grumpy:

I can't find ONE around here.

('Course, I don't have your vast fortune and don't need another gun...but still. )

Either a third 66 at $159, or a 20 ga. 3" Saiga at $199. If they are still there when I go up next week for my meds.

Hey, I gave up drinking and smoking...

For unlimited I would choose:
A Benelli Nova for general carry and any required hunting (mmmm, duck)
A FN P90 or HK MP-7 PDW for protection
And a Chiruwa AK for general use

For limited ammo I would choose:
An HK UMP due to the availability of ammo and general stopping power of a .45.
A Katzbalger ~30" and a steel buckler for protection also due to ammo.
And a chiruwa ak for general use.

Of course I don't have any of the above but I am assuming my standard Fallout® mentality for end of world scenarios. Weapons are widely available and no attacker is furthur than 100 yards away.

Note: all of the firearms above are listed at http://world.guns.ru/main-e.htm

Ammo is always limited, especially against Zombies, so here's what I'd take of mine:

LMT AR15 w/m261 conversion so I could shoot squirrels and such
Glock 17
Jensen EVO (sorry, I think it's hard to beat)

Scenario involving war or likely combat: AK47, Glock 17, Becker Combat Utility.

Scenario involving wilderness-type survival: Scoped Savage 110 in .270 Win, Colt Anaconda, Chiruwa AK.

There are better choices for all of the above, but I'm a "go-with-what-you-know" kinda guy. Ammo availability notwithstanding.

Rifle- Springfield M1 Scout. Love the .308.
Pistol- Les Baer Premier II, .45 ACP of course. :)
Knife- HI (what else?) 16.5" WWII, horn handle by Kumar, in a custom scabbard.

And plenty of magazines and ammo.

My Marlin .357 Carbine,
Ruger Security Six in .357
17" Foxy Folly with a Marble's Scout and a Marble's Fieldcraft for Kardas.

Of course I'm gonna cheat too, get Nasty and his gear in my Rollator and head off too find Munk, Semp, Rusty, and Tsimi.

I'll talk Uwinv into bringing some C-4 and Claymores for Semp too, anything anyone else need since Nasty is gonna have the keys and knows where everything else is? :p :D ;)

Well, I'd like permission to take my reloading gear along. Naturally there's a few cases of ammo lying around that wouldn't hurt, and several backup firearms for those who begged a ride at the last minute.

If we can't get someone to pack extra guns and ammo, can we at least get someone to pack some beer?

I'm not volunteering - it's difficult enough to carry my own share.

Warzone:
select fire AK74 (Due to ammo availability in most combat zones)
1911
15" villager ang khola

Survival: Short term SHTF;
Sharps 45-70 Gvt. (Can use either smokeless or black powder, and I have made black powder before)
1911
16.5" chiruwa Ang khola

Survival: Long term TEOTWAWKI;
Flintlock .54 muzzleloader (Black powder is dangerous to make, but not half as dangerous as percussion caps or primers)(Oh yeah, I CAN hit just about anything I want with mine, out to 200 yrds)
1911 (Yeah, I know, it don't use BP, but if I use it, I Need it, NOW.)
16.5" chiruwa ang khola

Perfect world, (unlimited budget)

-Springfield M1A scout.
-HK USP Tactical in .40 S&W.
-18" WWII, CRKT Bear Claw, and SOG Navy Seal Pup knife.
(Maybe Benelli Nova Tactical strapped to my pack, if I'm feeling burly and CQB very likely.)

If it happens any time soon, this is probably more practical.

-SKS, or borrowed AK-47 or M-16.
-Some version of Colt 1911.
-18" WWII, CRKT Bear Claw, SOG Navy Seal Pup.

I would definately stay with a group of people, avoiding solitude like the plague. Make that a heavily armed group. Situation depending, we'd either convoy far away or go to the nearest large sporting goods store, where we could lock down, barricade, and hole up. But the latter would require a very unique situation.

BTW, this may seem laughable, but do not discount it:

www.zombiehunters.org

It is about resisting a zombie outbreak, but if you replaced all references to zombies with "enemies," it would be an outstanding source. All good, practical information about surviving the SHTF. It has great info and could potentially be a place to unite in a SHTF scenario. The forums aren't bad, either.

Insufficient imagination to deal with unlimited ammo.

Think I'd have to go w/ my S-M-P scoped bolt action .308 'cause it'll feed any .308 ammo I find -- including the type that makes BIG holes. (R-of-F too damn slow for zombies, but nice and black.)

Then .45 Colt 1911 'cause most likely .45 to find parts for.

Durba 16" AK w/torture knives. Sharp but convex.

Guys...once I get the button, we have the entire base and surrounding community at our disposal. That includes the Class Six store, the mess hall, the munitions area, the local brothel, and all the hot wings you could possibly want.

MAD = Mutually Assured Destruction for those too young to remember.

Even the aliens understand the concept...leave us alone or we *all* go bye-bye...

M1 Garand in 30-06
(That should kill pretty much anything on Earth)
Silenced Ruger Mk2
Rod Allen Hanshee

What three weapons would you carry in an End of the World scenario?

1) A barrelful of love
2) An open heart
3) Clear sight

Hopefully, I already carry these things with me, because it's what's in you that's really important. If you're good/wise/loving/skilled enough, it doesn't really matter what tools you've got, because you will triumph, regardless.
