Thrifty Thursday... Cheap Traditional Knives

That's pretty cool that they gave you a free knife. That's the way to earn repeat business. 🤠:thumbsup::thumbsup:
These days, around here, I'm lucky to get a Thank You Come Again... somebody really needs to be teaching these kids about "service".
When I was working my way through college by bagging groceries, we were told “baggers” and “cashiers” were not to talk to each other when customers were present. We were told to talk to the customers because without them we wouldn’t have a job. Not sure that is stressed anymore, sometimes, as a customer, I feel invisible. 🙄

Great buy! I couldn’t scroll through the pictures quick enough to see if the spring was broke in the candy stripe Imperial. The last one I saw like that without a broke spring was $100. Congratulations!

Good to hear from you Gary, hope your vacation is going well! 😎👍
Thanks, Todd. 🤓

Vacation has been great so far (except for internet withdrawal :oops:o_O). Our daughter and her boyfriend were here with us from late Saturday until early Tuesday. First time we actually met the man in person, so that was cool. We all had a good time together (even if the weather was rainy much of the time), but a lot of activity for this old man who appreciates lots of "down time" when we're up here. During their visit, I didn't make my daily walking goals either, so I've been doing a lot of "catch-up" walking the past couple of days.

Weather today was great (72˚F, at least 15 degrees cooler than it was at home) and is supposed to be the same through the weekend at least. Antique Wooden Boat Show this weekend, and some beauties have been passing by already. Antique car show "downtown" Friday afternoon.
And tonight I've had an entire hour of uninterrupted, normally-functioning wi-fi service; it would be fantastic if that continued for the remaining 9 days we're here!

Let me know when you are going garage-sale browsing next -- I think I need to tag along! Great finds! Many hours of enjoyment ahead with those.

Sounds cool, make sure to take some pictures of those antique wooden boats, would love to see them! 👍

Cents up to the cost of an Case Sod Buster Jr. is considered "thirfty', I'm gonna guess these all qualify, seeing as they costy less than that.
All are BTI Old Timer ... except the Taylor Schrade Hammer Brand 4 blade gunboat canoe whittler, which is standing in for my normal carry stockman.
7OT
23OT (unoffical) Scout Knife. (on the not shown again 32 inch SAK chain lanyard)
280OT Barlow

Great score.
The Craftsman branded multitool is a Schrade tough chip.

That was a great score on the imperial auto, even not working those seem to go for way too much.

Ping!!!!

First time this has ever happened to me. Not surprising I guess given that they are mass-produced as cheaply as possible - got 10 months daily use out of it and paid $15 so no big deal. I shrugged it off and grabbed another identical one out of the drawer.

Not 10 minutes later I noticed the mail truck parked on the street and checked the box to see what Joe brought me today. Surprise! It was a replacement that has been in the mail from South Africa since July 16th. I wasn’t really expecting it to arrive so soon…

Taylor Schrade Inperial Farmer’s Folder I picked up several years ago to try the pattern ($5.99 at the time.)

Do you like that knife? I bought a yellow-handled Sodbuster Jr sized Taylor Schrade Imperial like that for about 30¢ less than you paid, and am amazed at how nice a knife mine turned out to be!:thumbsup:

Here's a Rough Rider electricians knife I bought more than 6 years ago for $6.49 (plus $0.39 tax and under $1 shipping). Fantastic knife!

Really like the handles on that one :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I fished this Canal Street out of the bay for same cost as Sodbuster Jr so it qualifies (sorta) as thrifty. May be pushing the envelope a little.
