Ti and ZDP Leek

oregon, I would say for you to ask for me when you show up, but I won't be in till after lunch time. Tim G. will be in early, and will have the JYD's, Groove, and Needs Work to show you.

Thank you kindly Thomas. I very much appreciate the warm welcome atmosphere at Kershaw and your generous invitation to call on you is valued highly. Have I died and gone to blade heaven (terrific, just what daddy wants, products plus gratious over-achieving erudite staff)?

Unfortunately, I couldn't come over this PM. I was just there this AM. The happy and attractive staff were all outside as I pulled up. Saw and heard the alarm so I parked across the street. A practice fire alarm was in progress so no joy seeing any of the much anticipated industry shaking new stuff (go ahead and raise that bar). Shucks. And I figured today should be lucky as its 7/11. Next time.:)

All the best,

oregon

oregon, sorry about the fire alarm, and not being able to see the new items. You should email me and we can figure out a good time for you to stop by. I can then make sure there will be proto's around for you to evaluate. As it turns out, there were no proto's of the new items in house for you to see today anyway. They are all out with reps and buyers.

I just got back into the office today, so will give you all a realistic ZDP Leek shipping date later in the day.

Okay Thomas, are we on schedule??? You said that you were going to push for Thursday, any news??? Any pics??? The natives are getting restless!!!;)

TroubleMaker is right! ;)

Well.......umm.......aaaaahh.........what was the question again?

Oh yea, ZDP Leeks. No pics yet, sorry. Delivery, hmmmm....

Ya know I raised some serious caca(sp?), today with one Mr. Craig Green and Mr. Tim Galyean. Never seen so much back peddling in my life, talk about a soft shoe routine. The said something about you can't rush perfection or some such thing. :jerkit:

So what was the restless natives question again??? Delivery, yea..ok....here is the latest....

Parts have all been cut..gotta sharpen them, then we will be screwing them together, finishing them up real pretty like, they will go through QC, get lasered, packaged, and shipped out the door. No problem! Production promised all this by mid next week, so...did any of this answer the question?

Man I'm tired tonight.

Make 'em right! We can wait!!!!!!!
for a little while!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thomas, I have to say I’m really impressed with Kershaw right now. This project specifically has pushed you guys ahead of BenchMade as my No.2 favourite knife company (You’ll have to beat Sal for No.1). It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that people like me had (if only a little) input in the creation of this knife. Keep up the good work.

Whay he said. . .only .#1 you've been in my eyes . .and that's where you'll stay.

No turn off the CPU and go to your wife and tell her . . .

Thanks for her understanding and letting us borrow you for all these nights over all our little knife nut neeeds. We're sorry, and we know that behind every good man, there's a better woman . . .so thanks for that.

That should get you out of the hot seat for awhile.;)

Then . . .well. . .you know he rest.:D

Great guy Thomas.

Thomas or anyone, do we know what the handle back spacer is made of? What are going to be the markings on the knife? Screw material? Clip material?

Thanks, John

jvan, good questions, the Ti/ZDP Leek will incorporate the standard Leek back spacer (glass filled nylon), screws and clip. The blade will be flat ground (which is different than the standard Leeks), and the ZDP has been hardened in the 64-65 range.
We talked about the markings yesterday, as we are ready to laser them, and it looks like we will put the Kershaw logo on the front side of the blade (like the standard Leek), ZDP-189 will be lasered on the back side of the blade (small text), and Ti 6AL4V(small text) will be put on the clip side of the scale. Thoughts?

Joshua, glad to hear we are moving up in your Top 3, now you have me motivated to get us to that pole position.

Stephan, funny stuff. The wife is sooo understanding that sometimes I take that for granted. I took your advice, and all is well.:D
Anyway, I really appreciate being able to be a Kershaw voice for you all, and thanks for the uplifting posts.

edited for spelling.

ThomasW: I am glad that you are here!! I can not wait for the Ti/ ZDP Leek!! i hope I have some money by then!!

Ok Joshua, and everyone else, we still have enough ZDP for another short run of 1000 pieces, would love to hear your input.

How about a Ti Blur with G-10 or Micarta inlays and a ZDP blade. :)

oregon, we need a Kershaw ZDP project, ZT's will have their own fun. I want to keep up the momentum with some more high end Kershaw's.

Cyclon ZDP with titanium or G10 (orange) handle! Excellent slicer because of blade geometry and with ZDP it will be superior to everything else.

Thanks, Vassili.
