rnhood, I am feeling this as well.

BTW, the Ti/ZDP Leek weighed in at fit and trim 2.2 oz!:D

Less than the svelt, and widely regarded as light, Buck Mayo TNT which tips the scales at 2.7oz.

NICE!!!!!

Thomas doesn't do this for business, truth be told. He came here because I told him how cool I really thought it would be if he was a voice on this forum, in an informal manner. He decided that he liked it here, a bit.:)

Thomas LOVES knives. There are maybe 5 or so people like Thomas on the West Coast, and I am one of the other 4. We eat, live, crap, breath and sleep knives. It is not a job, it is not a hobby, it is not an addiction, it is simply what we do.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

This is actually true. I was for a time giving Steven a bit of a hard time about him spending so much time on BF's, but he kept on me about being a voice for Kershaw. I have to admit, I do like being here, and find BF's to be a great format for info and sharing views. Thx Steven.

It has been a long journey to be sure. I think there are more than 5, as the makers have knives on their minds for large portions of the days.
It has been a real pleasure being involved with some of the greats in our industry, and working at some very prominant cutlery organizations over the decades. Both Dan Delavan and Sal Glesser were very instumental in bringing me to where I am today, and I thank them both for putting in the time with me.
I do feel truly blessed to "do what we do" and make a living at it to boot.
As long as I have the stage, Kai Corp. is an incredible organization, that will be able to bring IMO, some of the best USA made sporting cutlery that can be offered up. The future plans are very focused and the goals large. Keep an eye out. Kai Corp. has really made my cutlery dreams come true, and I would love this to be my home till the end. My loyalty to them runs deep, and with Kershaw, Zero Tolerance, and Shun the future looks bright for all of us. Sorry for the rant.

I am one of the other 4
Let's start a knife gang Steven, we would rule the coast!!
BTW, you will be posting the ZDP pics tomorrow.:D

PIC's tomorrow everybody!!! Promise.

Speaknig of protos . . how can just a regular guy like me and others here get our hands on one. I know they are for press, industry pass around and such, but after their life there is done and the actual production run of the blade has been successful, what happens to these protos? What is a chance that someone like myself has off getting one for a colection?

It'd be cool if the companies raffled them or did some sort of promotion with them which they could give away to appreciated customers:D

Bayou, tomorrow for sure.

Thank you. I've already got my name on a hold list. I can wait patiently for the actually knife but I'd at least like to see a picture of what I'm about to spend all that money on.

Stephan, I think it is different for each manufacturer. I would have to believe most proto's stay in house. In a few rare cases you may see them on the open market. You just have to get lucky. Of the new knives we will have coming out (Groove, both JYD's, Needs Work), there are 2 to5 proto's for each, and they will all end up here at Kershaw. A lot of proto's are used to evaluate, and the production versions can be changed based on how the proto's worked out.
Hope that helps.
