Some people on here will disagree with this statement for their own reasons but I will offer you this...Don't feel too bad...part of this hobby is searching out and trying new blades to see what you connect with and those you don't. There will always be more blades to buy and check out

Well said! I've owned knives for less time than this -- sometimes you just know a knife is wrong for you.

I'm thinking about swapping the blades of KW g10 204p Military and KW cf/ti s90v Military so that I'll have a cf/ti 204p RIL Military. Has anyone thought about or done this mod? Are the blades identical to each other in every way (of course except the steels)?

It's been done before. I have 2 frankenmillies: Green g10/s90v and full Ti/M4

I sold my first military because I thought it was too big as well. When I first opened up that military box I said out loud “holy sh$t”. It was the biggest folder I had owned. I actually bought it from wolverine. I ended up regretting it, buying the kw version, and really enjoy it now.

Live and learn ;)

Try a Cold Steel Espada Large first (which I had one for a while). Then you will feel the Military is actually pretty compact.

I was almost upset that the unbeatable price on this one caused me to miss a KW exclusive from another company. Once I resigned myself to the loss, and that having 5 of this Military was probably better in the long run, the other (benchmade contego in m390)exclusive is back, but $10 more. Once the Military in s90v with cf/Ti is gone, I have a feeling a lot of people are gonna feel that loss, but it isn’t coming back! The para3 in cf/s90v is about $185, for $14 more you get a lot more steel and a nice slab of Ti! Unless they’re sold out already! I wonder if the grind marks are the same, or less noticeable on the para3?

Cold Steel has something for everyone. From decent knives to OMG that's exactly what I've always wanted.

Is the Espada your recommendation for a first cold steel folder? I almost bought a code4 drop point because it was cts-xhp for under $60.

Not to get off topic but In my honest opinion, I buy cold steel knives used on the exchange to carry only when Im out riding. Id never carry a sprint/non-replaceable knife on my motorcycle because of the greater risk of losing it or having a cop take it because "its longer than my 3 fingers:confused:".

...But every day Im not riding, Ive had the military in my RIGHT pocket and am loving it as a lefty because;

1. I don't use a knife as much as I think I do, so the half second longer it takes to use my right hand is negligible. and
2. I have all the space I need for my phone and keys in my left pocket, and you won't have to worry about keys scratching up the Ti side.
So any lefties still on the fence, id try it out, it might become a favorite.

Not to stay off topic but KW has great prices on the Ontario rat1/2 in d2 steel, either 3.5 or 3” in length. Absolutely right not to risk losing a $200+ knife.

The black/grey BM M390 Contego is a nice one. I will probably pick up one when it is on sale at $160 coming this winter, hopefully.

You should try a Cold Steel Recon 1 with cts-xhp or s35vn steel if you have not so.

Now back to the topic of this thread. The uneven grind lines/patches on the s90v military blade are a bit turn off. But still, @ $199 it is too good to pass.

Scored one for a buck 50 on the exchange! Thinkin I may need to abuse me some S90V.
Tried a CPM-M4 blade swap, didn’t go well. The lock face snags the blade and the blade would basically rub the scale I swapped in (jade).

Set the S90V back in, and the blade is really wearing on me. S90V isn’t as crisp as M4, but it feels very aggressive with the factory edge. Really feels wear resistant for sure. Curious how my sharpening skills will apply on this steel.
