Ti/Carbon Fiber S90v Military sale

Does anyone have any idea how many of these were made? I’m on the fence still. Usually when I buy a knife it has to hit ALL the right notes for me. I had an m4 military and even though I hated the clip position.. the sheer size and look of the blade was so unique and beautiful that I still carried it more than my pm2 or manix 2. Is an RIL lock pretty rare on spydercos? Could I change out the carbon side with my own g10 slab? Back spacer compatible?

Someone talk me into one. Or out of one. I’m on the fence and need to decide before it’s too late lol.

If you need people to persuade you to buy it, you should perhaps skip it. $200 is not small money (at least to me). Nothing wrong with this millie including the RIL lock, but limer lock millies are all great as well.

Convince you? How about reading this entire thread. Or the other lengthy thread on how sick this knife is.

If you're still not convinced then forget this knife. It's not for you.

THIS is true. I am anti tip down and i still carry this A LOT. The RIL just makes it fantastic, and I don't particularly prefer frame locks over other types. I have a lot of different locks. This is a the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts situation.

I have never been a big Millie fan (I’ve owned 4) but this is not just the nicest Military that I’ve ever held, it’s one of the nicest knives Spyderco has ever produced. Now that mine is breaking in, it is very smooth and still razor sharp. I enjoy carrying this more than any Crk knife that I own and this exclusive is $200.

If possible, can you elaborate? The Millie only just became my favorite about a year or two ago, and I can come to my own opinions after use, I’d just like to know what others (especially long time users) think about this model!
One reason would be the high-grade steel. CQI another reason. Also, it has bank-vault lock-up (on mine at least), and the carbon fiber/titanium hybrid handle gives the solidity of the RIL frame lock with a textured grip on the opposite side. As a southpaw, I had limited my Military collection to the two versions of the LH Military (the sprint run years ago and the current regular production model) until I realized that the minimal ergonomic difference between the LH and the RH models was a worthy trade-off for the advantages of the various RH versions--to include a fluted titanium Military, complete with CQI, also now in my collection.

I am surprised that the 1200 pieces of this model have not been sold out. It's already at least two years since the knife was released and two weeks since it's lowered to $200, correct? Imagine if it were PM2 with s90v steel and either cf or ti scales, how fast it would be sold out at $200? As some posters said, if you are a fan of Spyderco military, you definitely do not want to miss this one. Otherwise, be mindful if the main purpose is to flip for profit - it is going to take a while for its secondary market price to increase, if ever.

Not quite 2 years yet but close to one. How do I know? I woke up at 6:00 AM Pacific Time to place my order at the stated release time of 9:00 AM Eastern on May 3rd 2016 2017 (edited) :D

Yes, so I did buy one at the full on retail price of $279.95 and enjoyed it for a full 6 months or so before KW started putting this CF/Ti-S90V Millie on sale for $229.95. I was always tempted to buy a back up when the sales prices were vacillating between $239.95 & $229.95, whenever they were discounted but at this current price of $199.95, seems to me that they're being blown outta door. I did not hesitate to grab my second unit and for those who can find a reasonable application for a large folder who do not live / work in restrictive environments as far as blade sizes go, acquiring one of these at this price is really a cinch decision as long as it is affordable.

Just playing and admiring it in house should be a good enough reason to grab one and if there are applications of big folders, that is a reason to add one backup :p

It came out last May (2017).

I bought two of the KW Ti/C.F. because they are awesome and I knew I would use them. My second one just arrived in the mail today! I try not to let secondary market prices affect my hobby purchasing decisions. Like my wife says, I am a terrible businessman when it comes to knives. I buy high and sell low.

I bought one today and the lady said the numbers are running low.
So, that makes 2 that I bought all because of this thread. I was holding off on getting the 2nd one but I told myself, I would probably regret not getting one as a backup. I definitely will not have buyers remorse on these.
Get off the fence It's coming down to "If you snooze you lose."

I don't know, but ever since I bought this one, I also started to carry the other one more. I am a PM2 kinda dude, but this one motivated me to use the Military more. I had one or the other on for almost two weeks. What you gonna do... great knife is a great knife!

Mine landed today, perfect specimen, I’m well chuffed.

First impressions comparing it with the M4 Ti/G10 version of years ago:
- M4 handle is more chamfered
- CF seems ever so slightly lighter
- CF ti slab has a coarser blasted finish
- CF lock is quite light to operate, almost comparable to the linerlocks. I remember the M4 took a looong time to break in and still requires more force than this one.

All and all, I’m happy! Thanks KW and Spyderco.

I have actually lost a little sleep debating on whether to pick up a second one of these.
I only have 2 folders, this military and a zt 0450.
I have bought and sold enough folders to know this military hits everything on my checklist. I literally would not change one thing.
Since I have a pretty tight budget and only keep a few folders around, I was really debating on another one.
The thought of losing this one at some point in the next several years was difficult to think about.
I'm not a collector, but do not mind going up to around $250ish if a knife is perfect (for me).
I love the titanium, the rougher carbon fiber, the frame lock, the long lasting steel (I bought my first one in November and have yet to sharpen it, just strop it here and there), the action is great and most importantly it is just a great cutting tool.
So this morning after much debate, I ordered another..........

Out of curiosity, I called and was told there are around 150 left........so it doesn't appear they are flying off the shelves at the $199.95 price.

Maybe there were 500 left and this price really increased sales, but I wonder if they would drop the price any more, or if this is it.

Might be that KW needs to clear the stock asap otherwise they would just lower the price to $230 and that's it. If a plain jane millie is priced around $170, I see no reasoning for kw to further lower the price. That said, if they do, like to $180, I'd buy another one, to $160, I'd buy another two, and to $120, I'd buy all the rest 150. :p

This post was the nail in the coffin for me. Take note of this. I am a lefty that mainly collects manix 2's. My first and only millie was the M4 version and even though I was a lefty the sheer size and beauty won me over, also the centering was so far off that it was almost touching the g10, honestly left a bad impression for milies. Unfortunately i had to sell it because i could not find a practical use for it and being in Michigan, some places can be a little weird when it comes to big blades or any blades at all unless you're up north somewhere. That being said i still can not find a strong enough reason to pass this up. Im all about numbers and logistics, and when you look over the data sheets of what else is offered and with what materials it becomes clear that this is a bargain and in the long run not a risky buy at all. besides i've always wanted an integral lock but most of them are way sky high in price, and if i can find a way to make it a lefty tip up configuration then ill probably regret not buying 2.

Ill be sure to post pictures, looking forward to seeing this amazing quality control at work.
