Tim Wright - Takedown folder...

Hi 71 Cuda ,thanks for the address on the 2 Wright knives. That was a fine knife, sorry you had to let it go.
Don't seem to be any for sale in any vendors site right now.

JB,good choices for something you are going to use and especially around water.Let us know how it handles ,especially when you use it on the fish.Looking at it ,I will say it should be work fine, especially the bolsters,in keeping your thumb from the cutting edge.

Just a follow up on the Tim Wright small wharncliffe...

I use it everyday. The knife is deceptively sharp. You know it's sharp...but you must exercise real caution or you will slice a finger without feeling a thing :) The blade is easy to touch up, the AEB-L takes a hair splitting edge with nothing more than a fine ceramic.

It does require a lanyard of some sort to help remove it from the sheath, due to the micarta cam. So, I would recommend anyone that plans to use a sheath to have Tim add the lanyard hole.

Seldom does one own a fine custom knife that is so practical. That is the beauty of it :)

Skhori, very nice knife there. What wood on the handle. What steel did Tim Wright use for this. Also how big of a knife. What size handle and blade?.
Do you use this one?.Looks like it will be a very nice knife to use.
JB appreciate that follow up.Good to know that the AEB-L steel is not a bear to sharpen and does take a scary edge.

Blade is BG42, 4.5", Overall length= 9.5", Handle material is stabilized Birdseye Maple. Haven't used it yet.......

Here is just a hint of a little somethin' ;)

Yes I would say that he is that, a man driven to perfection
which isn't the town in the Tremor movies ;)

The one shot shows just how well he does the thong tube
many folks don't take the time to get it right, but Tim worries
on each detail and it shows in the final results.
An amazing knife!

Gary did you take a picture of the great leather that you put with Tim's knife? Come don't hold out;) Let's see 'em together:thumbup:

had limited time to take photos of the sheath, will post more images of the
knife up when I get home, the knife was presented to the Ashokan Center
manager Tim Neu, Tim Wright asked that I bring it along and if I would make
a sheath for it, special request as you guys know I don't care to make fixed
blade sheaths, didn't want to show the other photos of the knife in case Tim Neu
might stuimble across this thread and see the knife he was getting, but figured
the teaser shots would work ;)

Good Job TKC !

ok folks, here is the rest of that teaser post, as I say, I didn't want the entire knife shown,
in case the person being gifted the knife might happen across this thread;
But now he has it safely in hand, we can continue with this homage to Timothy Wright...

you would almost think the knife was an integral by how closely matched up the bolsers
are with the blade;

a poorly shot image of the sheath Tim asked that I do to help with this gift,

IMG_3428.jpg

the welt is double thick near the top with a nice section for the guard to drop into place

IMG_3431.jpg

and the belt loop runs the full length, works well on small knives like this, makes for when
sitting down you can raise the sheath up and out of the way or tilt it.

and here is Mr Tim Neu, Facility manager at the Ashokan Center, as nice a fellow as you'd
ever want to meet, a most cordial person, we are very lucky to have such a person to help
with the Ashokan Center!

also, I received this on Friday morning, broke into my local Post Office and they were gracious
enough to dump the bags out and find the box from Tim Wright with my small wharncliff
bladed knife he was making for me, I wanted to be able to show it off at Ashokan this
past weekend, here is, also a poor shot, taken at Ashokan, resting on top of a section
of foam for a makeshift sheath, I told everyone, "well, it floats "

It was a very welcome knife, as you might imagine!
Thanks to both Tim's and glad to be home too,
