Tim Wright - Takedown folder...

Thanks for the video. Tim and I are at odds on many issues, and that's enough said.

Wanted to see if anyone could post pictures of Tim Wright's kitchen knives, and of some of his other fixed blades. Thanks

Raj,

Here are 2 fixed blade that were on eBay a while back. I don't think they sold:

Hi Joss, thank you very much for these pictures.I really like Tim's knives and especially the way he does the front of his bolsters/guard.
Guess I have to watch ebay more often and see if his knives come up again:).

I can't imagine those not selling on ebay unless the reserve was unrealistic?

That fighter is really nice.

Peter

He wasn't giving them away. His prices before eBay (I had bought something else from him and he offered them to me before putting them up for auction) were $3,600 for each.

That is friggin insane!

Price from Tim is in the $1,000 region, plus or minus a small bit.

Best Regards,

I didn't buy them. :D

I KNOW that, I would think if you had, there would have been an e-mail about it, and a subsequent fire sale, involving whatever lesser pieces you had that Daniel did not broker for you.:D

Best Regards,

Looks very nice Jerry! Good to see she made it to your doorsteps!

Gary, I seen few (and I mean only a few) knives that approached the fit and finish of Tim's knives.

Tim gets it...no hot edges, even the notches on the spine are comfortable. The sheath is tight, the micarta cam does a fine job of securing the knife without risk of the blade slicing the leather. To say I'm pleased is putting it mildly...thanks for your insight and advice. Now, I must decide what's next :)

Hi,JB what is the wood on your knifehandle. What steel for the blade?.Thanks for posting a picture. Is that going to be a user.Very nice knife.

I chose black micarta for durability, the blade is AEB-L.....very thin, approx .075". Yes, it will be a user.

JB, read that the AEB-L steel has very small carbides.Takes and holds a very good edge. Also finishes well
.Hope that is correct and this knife performs well and the edge is easy to restore.Do keep us posted as you use it
.It must have come to you razor sharp from Mr Tim Wright.Gary who is a man crazy about sharp blades says that Tim is that way too:).

Raj, you are correct sir, Tim is a man possesed with sharp edges,
and I'm just plain crazy ;)

Also I heard tell Tim was making a special batch of micarta that was
going to be for a certain customer, as I recall it was to be of a PINK
colour, should be interesting :)

Hi Gary, after all this time,Tim is finally making a knife with PINK micarta??!!!.You and Mr Win must be really thrilled:D:D.Both of you must post pictures:).
I guess it has been a long wait . Must be some truth to the statement that all things come to those who wait,EVEN something like this:D:D.

Raj, after discussing the intended use of the knife (trout, kitchen) with Tim, I felt that AEB-L was perfect. The blade is hand finished (not sure how fine, but 800 grit seems about right), not a mirror finish..but not dull. All I can tell you is it's sharp, very sharp...and has edge geometry that should be easy to touch up. The guard has just enough protrusion to allow the knife to be used upside down (when zipping a trout open) without fear of slicing a thumb.

Coop, there should be a law again'st you starting these types of thread. You end up costing people money with new knife orders:D:D.
That is a very nice looking knife. Is that wood cocobolo?.Is that one of yours?.If so how is the edge on that one?.Please,if you can, do post some more of his knife pictures.
Oh oh Gary, seems he has that rascally notch near the end of the blade, near the ricasso:D.

I used to own that knife. It was spectacular. The knife edge was perhaps the best I had ever seen, so sharp and so smooth, like a razor. Here is the website of where I had purchased the knife:

By the way, that vendor is first class in my opinion.
